Ανοίγοντας το επίσημο βίντεο του “Billy Joel – Tell Her About It (Official Video)”, βυθιζόμαστε σε μια ακαταμάχητη 80s αισθητική: χορευτική ενέργεια, νοσταλγικές Motown επιρροές και την χαρακτηριστική φωνή του Billy Joel να αφηγείται μια απλή αλλά καθηλωτική ιστορία σχέσης.
Η δισκογραφία του περιλαμβάνει ορόσημα όπως The Stranger, 52nd Street, Glass Houses, The Nylon Curtain, An Innocent Man, Storm Front και River of Dreams. Πέρα από τη μουσική του δισκογραφία, εμφανίζεται συχνά σε τηλεοπτικές εκπομπές, ντοκιμαντέρ και συναυλιακές ηχογραφήσεις — πρόσφατα μια ταινία/ντοκιμαντέρ με τίτλο “Billy Joel: And So It Goes” κυκλοφόρησε στο HBO Max, επιβεβαιώνοντας το ενδιαφέρον για την πορεία και τη ζωή του.
Σχετικά με το τραγούδι “Tell Her About It”: κυκλοφόρησε το 1983 ως single από το An Innocent Man και γράφτηκε ως φόρος τιμής στον Motown ήχο, με ανεβαστικό ρυθμό και μελωδική γραμμή που παραπέμπει στην χρυσή εποχή των 60s.

Billy Joel's life is like climbing through a rocky mountain and a half hardy place, but conquered with pure braveness.

💭 Meaning of the Song (One Paragraph)
Tell Her About It is a lively, upbeat reminder to communicate openly and sincerely in a relationship. Billy Joel advises listeners (especially men) to express their love and feelings before it’s too late. It’s about not assuming the other person knows how you feel — you have to actually tell them. Wrapped in a catchy, retro Motown vibe, the song delivers its message with both charm and urgency.
🧠 Interesting Facts
🎤 The song is a tribute to the sound of 1960s Motown, especially artists like The Supremes and The Temptations.
📺 The music video is styled as a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, with Billy Joel playing to a screaming crowd of fans — capturing the vibe of the ‘60s TV era.
🚀 It was a major commercial success, becoming Billy Joel’s second No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 (after “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me”).
🧥 Joel wore a sharp red suit in the video — a nod to the slick showbiz style of classic soul singers.
📻 The song’s message echoes themes from the rest of An Innocent Man, an album that pays homage to the music of Joel’s youth.
❤happy
Crazy I’m watching Billy Joel on Bill Maher, and Billy said he hates this song. Bill likes it though and I always did too.
I want to leave the snow and all my past behind me for my dreams, not memories of honoring all the people who lied, cheated, hurt and abused me in one way or another for beautiful turquoise waters, saving sea life, educating people on the water tables and oceans. The importance of our environment. Keeping endangered animals and corals, trees and nature from extinction! I'm telling you these are my dreams! I don't want someone else's dream now! I'm ready to move forward and really hate the snow! If you share my dreams and want to do life with me maybe we can be friends. I'm definitely no longer interested in any other role in life! I hope this is clear enough for any questions or doubts of persuasion lingering because lying to me doesn't work now!
Man I always loved the classic songs that had a fun music video. Billy and Huey were great with that
I was a P.A. (Production Assistant) on this music video, as well as on "Uptown Girl" and "The Night Is Still Young". I was pretty young. Just getting going in film in NYC. Worked like a dog on these shoots. I was a Billy Joel fan by 1975 and was lucky enough to find a radio station LP pressed only for promotional purposes called "Souvenir". It was a real gift, and it included a few live tracks. The hardest thing to do on this shoot was NOT fall all over myself being starstruck.
Billy was and is very much a working guy. It's not some slick made-up image. He didn't hide in the trailer they provided. He hung out on set between takes, chatting with the crew. When it was time to roll cameras, he was completely professional. Understood camera, the timing of doing his lip-synch and how the angles worked.
My single favorite memory of these three jobs? We were loading in at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ for the live portion of "The Night Is Still Young". Loading dock at the back of the stage. A cheap old upright piano was nearby. And as we were all dragging in the gear, there was Billy. Noodling around on the piano. Then- incredibly- he started singing "Roxanne" by The Police. I was ( and am ) a huge Police fan. I stood there, listening to him play bits of a few Police songs. He glanced over at me and smiled. I said something like, " No kidding- a fan? " He said he was listening to them in the limo on the way in that day. He said he loved the songwriting. Great stories, etc etc. He was a FAN !!! 🙂 So I asked him if he'd seen them live. He got this big smile and said, " There ARE perks !!! " He said he'd gotten tickets a few times. That they were just amazing live. Kinda cool to see someone I IDOLIZED going on and on about another band entirely.
He's a gifted storyteller and musician. And was, back then, a heck of a nice man.

Who’s listening in December 2087?
Meeee😊
is that Will Jordan as Ed Sullivan ?
Rodney!!!!
I feel like the guy at the end there was getting no respect.
Rodney was right, he didn't get no respect. LMAO
This album, to me, felt like a palate cleanser after the heaviness of Nylon Curtain (my favorite album of his) He couldn't continue in a direction like that, too dark. Great but dark. The Bridge was a bit of dip back into that more serious direction. Innocent Man is joy. 🤙
Awesome song
💜
The video like ed Sullivan show
Every time I hear Ozzy's voice I'm so awed, I was born in September 1971 but grew up listing to some great music 😊❤
