`Games People Play’ was the second single from the Alan Parsons Project’s 5th studio album The Turn Of A Friendly Card and was released in 1980. The song peaked at number 16 in the US charts and has remained one of the APP’s most popular singles ever since. Lenny Zakatek was chosen to sing the upbeat song about the dangers of gambling and can be seen in the video alongside APP stalwarts Stuart Elliott on drums, David Paton and Ian Bairnson on guitars. APP founder and songwriter Eric Woolfson (on keyboard) and producer Alan Parsons (at the mixing desk) also appear in the video. The title came from a psychology book of the same name, which Eric’s wife Hazel was reading at the time.

Whos here 2025?.
You have no idea how much I appreciate this music.
Absolutely great music
Can anyone tell me what "make, model details of the harmonica" that was used by Supertramp Band Member here to play "Take The Long Way Home"? Thanks!
Excelente
One of the greatest songs of the 1970s
This song is to not to be forgotten about
Remember hearing this song as as a teenager. I’m 61 years old now. Music today doesn’t come close to what I grew up hearing on the radio ❤
Who is here 2025?, September?
I first heard this song on GTA Vice City Stories, and immediately, I started loving the song. Now, every time I hear this song, it reminds me of how awesome GTA Vice City Stories was on the PS2.
Wow!
Good song. Who is here in 2036
The book "Games People Play" by Eric Berne, M. D. – for which this song is named – discusses how people play psychological games with each other rather than acting in a straightforward manner. The book explains the three mental states people use when they interact with others: Parent, Adult, and Child. Straightforward communication occurs when all persons involved in an interaction are in the same mental state. Game playing occurs when one or more persons are in Parent, Adult, or Child state and one or more others are in one of the other two. Analyzing which states people are occupying is called Transactional Analysis. An excellent book and worth reading.
September! High as a kite! 2025!

Men who looked like my Dad did this. Boomers aint so bad.
I've listened to Games People Play since the early 90s – I think I have one of Alan Parson's compilation CDs from that era. This is the first time I've seen the actual music video and didn't know that both David Paton and Ian Bairnson played the harmony riff in the middle. However the guitar solo from 2:27 would have been recorded using a single coil pickup guitar like the Fender Stratocaster, rather than the humbucker equipped Gibson Les Paul in the video clip. Still, this music video is enjoyable and I didn't know how Lenny Zakatek looked like until I watched this!
Back when songs had important things to say.

What a moving song. Goes so far back for me
Re various comments, it's nice to see people appreciating music from different eras.
I was very surprised to find one of my neice's husband who is about 30 years younger than me is a BIG Beatles fan.
And when his little daughter (at like 3) needed help she'd reach up and say "NEED SOMEBODY", and he pointed out that came from her hearing the Beatles a lot. I got a big kick out of that.
I'm a fan of Gregorian Chant, from learning about it in history of music in college. (Think 500ish years ago and older). I also like good classical Music, like Beethoven and Mozart.
As well as 60's, 70's, some 80's music.
Kind of like with movies, it's nice to have plenty of choice and variety as things change.
I found "Shocking Blue" a while back, having forgotten all about their smash hit "Venus" from when I was 10 to 11. They had a lot of nice tracks, with good themes from that era. About 10 pretty big hits in Europe, but only the one really big one in the US.
A Netherland's band that learned the words for the English versions phonetically. Thus the obvious error in the opening words of "Venus", where Mariska Veres sings "Godness on a mountain top", instead of goddess. Reminds me of Chinese restaurants having "Phoenix and Dargon" as a frequent menu item. (As long as the food or music is great, who cares?)
I think keeping an open mind re art is hugely rewarding over time.
How do I give a thousand ups
Lenny is the voice of APP
Truth rings deep
🙇♀️🕯🇺🇲❤️
I'm 73 years old, born in 1952. The day music like this fails to move me, I'll know I'm done!!!!
Blunstone sings? World class
Got this album. One of 10 best ever. Colin Blunstone is worldclass singer
Here in 2025..👍 Party 🎉🎉
Relevant then , as it is today. Message for me is the slow decline of society, and still in a downward spiral . Not many want to believe what's happening in the dark behind closed doors . Be safe everyone ✌️ .
Thank you Lenny.
