I'm slovakian, I always say anything after Vienna is eastern europe
yep it was steve mcqueen
My approach is to draw a line through London eastwards to the Ural Mountains, and a line from the Russian-Finnish border southwards to the Black Sea, and at the crossing point, I draw a radius of about 500km, in this circle is central Europe;) completely without politics;) geographicly speaking russia is eastern europe❤
Interesting place 😍
Slovakia 👍💯 Košice 🍀🍀
💞💞💞
When I'm in Serbia, the time zone on my phone says, "Central European Standard Time" for fall/winter/spring and "Central European Summer Time" in summer.
Hungary is my native country. I have got used to hearing 'Eastern Europe' but never liked it. We were taught that it is in Central Europe. Although Western Europe was always called that
Weeeeeeell…. Geographic centre of europe is in slovakia (near Kremnicke Bane)…. So its central europe I would say…
However you can say that west Slovakia is from Kremnicke Bane to west and eastern europe you have east from that village. Then you have no central europe. But I would say this topic is quite irrelevant.
Super 👍👍👍
I’m am American living in Slovakia. It is geographically in the center of Europe. Americas say Eastern Europe because of how it was divided during the Soviet period.
There are two approaches, to this issue: geographical (Slovakia, is Central Europe) and political: Slovakia was part of the Soviet Bloc – that is: Eastern Europe… Just like: Poland, Hungary, East Germany, Czechia, etc. And in these countries, it is still – noticeable!
Slovakia is Central Europe. Just, like, geographically speaking. What people often don't realize is just how huge the European part of Russia is. By the most common definition, it goes all the way up to the Ural mountains, which are waaaay out east. If you include this whole huge part of Russia within the definition of "Europe" – and you should – you'll find that Slovakia is pretty much smack dab in the middle.
There is nothing offensive about a geographical location. However, the term 'Eastern Europe' had been primarily associated with a political system, which no longer exists today. It has little to do with geography. Even in terms of geography, that definition is not correct, as there are countries further east, which are still referred to as 'Western Europe', such as Finland or Greece, even though they are much further east that say Slovakia or Hungary. The Czech capital Prague, for example, is at least 200 Kilometers west of Stockholm, Sweden, or Vienna, Austria, and 400 km west of Helsinki, or Athens. Therefore, still referring to Prague as 'Eastern Europe' and Stockholm as Western Europe is incorrect, both in terms of politics as well as geography. That's why it makes no sense, and perhaps that's why many Countries in the region are baffled as to why the old, politically motivated terminology is still being used today. It is as if we still continued referring to Germany as The German Reich today, to Austria as the Austro-Hungarian Empire and India as The British Raj…. Times have changed and our terminology needs to change along with them.
Everything is "offensive" these days, according to some.
Including geography, apparently. Just say what you have to say 🙂
It can be added that these countries were not colonizers
It is offensive to us because you're grouping us together with countries like Russia which oppressed the whole region for over 40 years and killed many people throughout the eastern block and is trying to do so again. To us it sounds as if you were calling us poor, underdeveloped and unfriendly. Just my opinion.
why you enjoy dividing humans there is only one earth , and is made of a few continents, Euroasiafrica, America, Antartica, Australia. Yankees are primitive color coded NAZIS , immigrants in the American Continent , negating our common origen . Prove me erroneous if you can . saludos Yankee from Canada you are the best
great deal on that apartment . saludos
for me, as a Lithuanian, term Eastern Europe is an insult. This term to me is for the Russian world, which is disgusted by everyone these days.
yes you deserve new high quality shoes ,saludos
Fun fact: Andrew Tate used to live in Kosice.
great restaurant. saludos
Thanks so much 💚💚💚
I don’t know about Slovaks, but Czechs do find it offensive, especially considering Czech Rep. is as central as it gets and it’s been 35+ years since the end of their Soviet satellite status. You can’t fully erase the past, but when you look at Czech history, it has a lot more to do with Germany, Austria, etc. than Eastern Europe.
