In a recent episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Guy Fieri made a return visit to a legendary trucker’s paradise in Victorville, California that he first visited back in 2007. Emma Jean’s Hollandburger Cafe has been a staple for over 60 years, serving up a “keep it simple” menu that has stood the test of time.
As Guy made his way through the menu, he couldn’t resist devouring the homemade biscuits and all-American burger that have become fan favorites over the years. The flavors and quality of the food at Emma Jean’s have remained consistent, drawing locals and travelers alike to experience a true taste of classic American diner fare.
For those looking to recreate the mouth-watering dishes from Emma Jean’s at home, here’s a simple recipe inspired by the iconic truck stop:
Ingredients:
– 1 lb ground beef
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 4 hamburger buns
– 4 slices of American cheese
– Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles (optional)
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 tbsp baking powder
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
– 3/4 cup milk
Instructions:
1. Preheat the grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into 4 patties.
3. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness.
4. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a separate skillet.
5. Assemble the burgers with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.
6. For the biscuits, preheat the oven to 450°F.
7. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
8. Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
9. Stir in the milk until just combined.
10. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
11. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
12. Serve the homemade biscuits alongside the burgers for the ultimate diner experience.
Whether you’re a trucker passing through or a local looking for a taste of nostalgia, Emma Jean’s Hollandburger Cafe is a must-visit destination for classic American comfort food. Guy Fieri can’t get enough of the simple yet delicious dishes that have kept customers coming back for generations. Join him in experiencing the flavors of this “Trucker’s Paradise” for yourself.

I majored in aviation starting in 1981 to bad these places don't have a runway where we could land & eat, lol, but i did drive a semi on 3rd shift in college 😅& had a few places to stop & eat , finished & retired as a railroad engineer, but only had 2 places to stop the train & pick up food to go, but was delicious food.
Brian Gentry the guy who owned Holland Burger passed away last year. From reading all their reviews it seems like they definitely do not like to serve anyone from the hispanic community.
Since my mother is safely dead, i could order a "slap yo mamma" sandwich. ^-^

This may be the only redeeming thing about Victorville I have ever seen. Holy hot damn.
If I lived anywhere near here, I would be there just about every day. Just plain old everyday American Food. The way Rednecks like it.
Concordia MO. – TA Truck stop only has Subway now. But Betty's Truck stop I-70 Exit 74 Eastbound has good diner style food.
That's called a wet burrito because it's covered in some gravy or sauce… looks absolutely delicious & I will visit them next road trip up to the high desert
How about breakfast guy and the Southerner. I would go into a food coma and love every minute of it
MAGA Cultist that believes in the Master Superior Race. He denies science and climate-change. Boycott this dangerous fraud.
