If only Carnegie Deli held on for a little longer, I think it would've had a resurgence.
I get the impression that guy has been following the Dodgers since he was a kid and they were in Brooklyn.
I would definitely put a spot for Davids Brisket House which I learned about from your channel. Amazing pastrami.
You guys can say whatever but nobody bit KATZ’S DELI 🏆 🥇 #1
Get xtra bread at Katzs amateur
I'll be in NYC in December. I will have to try Sarges.
Enough! We don’t need another damn video about pastrami at Katz, at some point people have to say enough to this garbage. Endless flooding of garbage
I’m vegan and I really enjoyed your visit to the classic eateries Great job with honest ratings
Prefer Russian dressing on pastrami, mustard overpowers the flavor of the meat
I've only had Sarge's, but I knew it would win the day. I'm going back to NYC in April, and I can't wait to eat there again. So juicy! I find myself very frequently craving a hot pastrami on rye from Sarge's. I tried the same type of sandwich in my hometown of Denver some months ago, but it was so dry and so little meat! Lame! Sarge's or nothing.
I'm thinking about trying an egg cream with it next time.
I've been to all four (4) spots many times since the 70s. They are all good. Sarge's was my father's favorite. It was a horrible crime when the owner of 2nd Ave was murdered. It was also a crime when the 2nd Ave moved. It's not worth it to wait in a long line out the door, and down the block for an overpriced Pastrami sandwich. (Katz's) Pleased these guys featured other delis and gave it to Sarge's.
Sarge's used to be my favorite for a long time, but I feel they have fallen off a bit recently, like within the last year. Prior to last year, they definitely had the best Pastrami sandwich in NYC. As you said, it had that very rich and buttery taste with melt in your mouth, thin pastrami. It was great. The last few times I ordered it, it didn't even taste fresh. Might be better to eat in the restaurant, because Katz's delivery orders are the same way – not fresh tasting at all, but in the restaurant it is great. My preference is Pastrami Queen or 2nd Ave. But #1 in the world, is definitely Hershel's in Philly. No one comes close to them. They have similar larger slices like Katz (the owner worked there for 20 years), however it is melt in your mouth, fatty and tons of the spicy peppercorn bark from the edges. Nice and grilled bread. It is so good.
If I had to rate the best in NYC and slightly beyond, it would be Sarge's and then Harold's NY Deli in that order. I have had pastrami shipped to me from Pastrami Queen and I would rate it a 4.0. Been to Katz's several times and give it a 5.5 and the same for the 2nd Ave Deli. I hope you can get to Harold's in Edison, NJ for a video. How about Liebman's in the Bronx?
Pastrami queen I Put that number 1. Katz delicatessen. I put number two.
I will freely admit my bias but Sarge's all day! Kat's is great but it's for the tourist crowd. Pro tip, Sarge's has the be best Kreplach in the city! #Iykyk
the bread falling apart at katz is part of the food theatre.
Pastrami Queen was originally Pastrami King on Queens Bl by the Courthouses in Kew Gardens
I have never ever had a pastrami sandwich before, those all look delicious to me 😍😊
25 bucks for a sandwich! lol
Do the same thing in Paris please
Excuse me, but my European mind cannot comprehend…is that THIRTY DOLLARS for 2 slices of bread and pastrami?!
Does it come with an angioplasty?
I love Sarge's. It's my favorite of all of the delis
Barr, can you suggest a place in the city for Thanksgiving dinner, under $100? I wont be able to visit my parents this year. Thanks, love your channel!
I spent many of late Thursday nights at Sarge's in the mid 90's. Such great memories and great pastrami sandwich!
I think the difference in menu size at Sarge's is because (I'm pretty sure) 2nd Ave. is a Kosher deli — so no Rubens or shrimp salad!
My husband and I went to 2nd Ave Deli. We absolutely loved it. The pastrami sandwich was soooo good!!! You are the reason why we fell in love with New York ❤
25$ for a sandwich? OK…
I just find it hard to understand you American's paying almost $30. US after taxes for a nice sandwich. 😲😲 Does everyone now earn $80 – $100 per hour working to be able to afford that ?🤔🤔
Been to both Katz and Sarges and I have to strongly disagree with you both: Katz its better by a mile. Sarges is good but it's just regular pastrami. Katz is outstanding pastrami.
Katz’s Number 1 🤤
Does anyone remember Pastrami King on Queens Blvd. Back in the 90s.
I hope you went a few stores up to from pastrami queen to Saba’s Pizza. Best kosher pizza shop in the world
Fabulous comparisons…I agree with your recommendation re Sarge’s ❤❤❤
If you ever get out to Bed-Stuy I would love to hear your review of David’s Brisket House. It’s a bargain compared to these Manhattan joints and in my opinion, just as good.
Edit: Nevermind!!! I saw your other sandwich review video and you did point out the human sizes and price point.
Greg is back!! and I guess I gotta try a cel-ray!
2nd Ave don't overlook fries. Some of the best ever. You can order a half sandwich with fries. Katz's you can order a half sandwich with matzoh ball soup.
We stop at Sarge’s nearly every time we are in NYC. It is a short walk from the Seastreak Ferry stop on 35th Street.
Was this all in one day?
I tried that place Pastrami Queen bc of this video. It was great!
We have to watch your videos when we are eating too. 😂😂 Fabulous stuff! 👍🏻🇬🇧
I have been twice to KATZ'S and I loved it; next time I'll be in NYC definitely need trying SARGE'S!!!
