Exclusive Private Island Accessible Only by Cruise Ship After Recent Renovation

Following an impressive $250 million renovation in 2019, Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay reopened as a private island destination tailored exclusively for its cruise guests and employees.

The owner of Icon of the Seas—the world’s largest cruise ship—holds a lease on the uninhabited island until 2088, so cruise enthusiasts have plenty of time to decide when to plan an escape to this hidden paradise.

This private destination in the Bahamas, located 55 miles north of Nassau, was designed to deliver a unique experience for cruise-goers as it offers a wide range of activities to suit every travel style.

For adventure-seekers, there’s the Daredevil’s Peak, the tallest waterslide in North America, along with a waterpark featuring wave pools, high-speed slides, and a 1,600-foot zip line that stretches across the island.

“We loved finding comfortable spots by the pool, allowing us to enjoy some refreshing drinks while keeping an eye on the kids. The food available on the island was delightful; Royal Caribbean provided a fantastic selection, including a variety of grilled options, salads, and, of course, ice cream!,” said James E, a TripAdvisor commenter who visited the island with his family in October 2024.
