Tragedy strikes once again in Laos as a sixth foreign tourist succumbs to suspected methanol poisoning. Holly Bowles, a 19-year-old Australian woman, is the latest victim to lose her life in the popular backpacker town of Vang Vieng. She was on holiday with her best friend Bianca Jones, who also tragically passed away.
The list of victims continues to grow, with Simone White from Kent in the UK also among those who have lost their lives. Two young individuals from Denmark, aged 19 and 20, and an American man in his 50s have also fallen victim to this deadly poisoning.
Vang Vieng, known for its stunning scenery and adventurous activities, has now become a place of sorrow and mourning for those affected by this terrible incident. Some of the victims who fell ill have been rushed to hospitals in neighbouring Thailand for treatment.
