The soy priest of Venezuela | DW Documentary
Father Jose Maria Gimeno has a mission – he wants to convert mothers in Venezuela’s slums. His message: Stop eating meat, cook with soy!
In his church in the megacity of Barquisimeto in northern Venezuela, a Catholic priest gives cooking classes. He wants to show how soy can replace meat in almost every dish. But he is not motivated by veganism or a change in diet due to climate change. Jose Maria simply wants to ensure that the children in the slums are well fed. Dried soy is rich in protein and can help prevent malnutrition. It’s inexpensive, which is crucial in a country hit hard by inflation. A report by Antonia Herrera.

Soy is not good for hypothyroidism
Blame your President Maduro for mismanaging your country
I think i don't like anything related to religion. Some kind of disgust. Repulsive.

Love learning solutions ❤. Thank you
So thankful so see another voice-over documentary! As a visually-impaired person who can rarely access captioned foreign documentaries, I will never stop saying thank you!!
🇮🇳 It's a fascinating story that seamlessly weaves together spirituality and healthy living practices.
The endeavors undertaken by the mission are truly commendable, and I applaud the vision of the Father.
After the 1976 Guatemala earthquake Plenty International help rebuild and opened soy dairies serving soy milk and ice bean to reduce the fact that 3 out of five children didn't survive age 5.
I absolutely agree that meat is best. However, in this situation, lentils and soy are a great solution. My family is in Venezuela and I have no idea how any pensioner can survive without someone on the outside sending remittances.
Terrible, were meant to eat meat, not artificial made soy chunks… Its cheaper but it doesnt mean its food.
Very bad reporting. Misleading facts. DW's qualities are deteriorating. Once a quality news maker, now…
Hope de hard days will past 4 them, so sad to hear wat it happened to their country
First feeds them myths, then feeds them antinutrients and phytoestrogens.
I enjoy DW Documentaries which show how a person or group of people are accomplishing positive things. Those stories are all around us – but not as dramatic as stories of crisis and disaster.
Best wishes from Vermont ❄️💙❄️
How appropriate for DW
wonderful example, the Amazon is burning because of ranchers, livestock facilities produce so much waste, contaminates drinking water, animals use our cultivating land… not to mention that all pandemics have an animal name in front… mad cow disease, avian flu, COVID from meat markets in Wuhan, etc. Plant based is the future.
use. cronometer. end of story. we have solved food. just automate it and dont think about it. food is like sleep, nothing more or less.
Nice ❤
I thought it was father ted.
