Zelensky arrives in Washington following ‘successful’ UK-US talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Washington for talks with US President Donald Trump, following what has been described as a “successful” meeting between UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Trump earlier in the day.

During their meeting, Trump expressed optimism about the possibility of a trade deal between the US and UK, stating that it could happen quickly and potentially help the UK avoid tariffs that the US has been threatening on some of its trading partners.

Later in the day, Trump and Zelensky are expected to discuss and potentially finalize a minerals deal that has been the subject of much speculation in recent months.

This meeting comes on the heels of a press conference where Trump was asked by the BBC’s Chris Mason about his previous claim that Zelensky is a “dictator”. In response, Trump appeared to backtrack, stating “Did I say that? I can’t believe I said that. Next question”.

The talks between Trump and Zelensky are expected to address a range of bilateral issues and could potentially pave the way for further cooperation between the two countries.
