Neanderthals and us | DW Documentary
Although they were physically superior to us, Neanderthals did not prevail. What made them different and why did they become extinct? How close or hostile were they to modern man?
Modern methods are drawing an increasingly accurate picture of our closest relative. The result sounds like true crime story from the Stone Age: it’s about sex, weapons and cannibalism. And the question of how much Neanderthal still remains in each and every one of us.

Great documentary
Brilliant
Thank you!
Neanderthals are us via breeding together and joining our blood lines. Every non-black human being on earth is descended from these Neanderthal/Human crossbreeds. the sheer number of humans overwhelmed the Neanderthal DNA with our own. If you look at the location and amount of Neanderthal in modern human you will notice a clear pattern, the further you get away from Europe, the more . Neanderthal DNA you will find. There is a two fold reason for this, framilure migration and DNA Halfing. To wash out Neanderthal dna you need human dna, so framilure groups moving east. had less human DNA available to wash out the Neanderthal DNA which is why you find much higher levels the further east you go, yet none in africa as it was crawling with human DNA. Denisovans in Asia got bred out in the same way. Most of their DNA can be found on the islands off mainland china which was isolated from the human and Neanderthal DNA sweeping washing out DNA the mainland. I predict but can not prove that ALL hominids were bred out in this way and everyone is now human.
Excellent documentary, but why is this important?
At least they were *NeanderTALLS", and not "NeanderSHORTS", am I right?
I thought homo Heidelberges was evolved to become neanderthals not erectus
Love Israel from Iran🇮🇱❤️🇮🇷
I have turned off and unsubscribed. The totally irrelevant and loud music drowns the narration. This happens in every video I tried to watch in this channel.
It was a great episode and I got a new information
Great documentary.
I watched a video about how humans invaded southern France and took over a cave that was used by Neanderthals. Subsequent to that takeover, the archaeologists didn't find any more evidence of the Neanderthals on one side of the river where the cave was. They only found evidence of Neanderthals south of the cave and river. That doesn't sound like a love story. The archaeologists speculated that the Neanderthals may have subsequently traveled along southern France to Spain and to the cave where some Neanderthals were found to have existed up until 32,000 years ago.
Why do we say Neanderthals disappeared when we Europeans have 2~5% of their DNA? We are Neanderthals!
Relatives can be foes. They can be friends.
I fell in real love on first site of your productions🎉❤
You lead others follow🎉❤❤❤❤❤DW WE GO❤🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Everyone except for Africans 18:46
This study seems strategic and cannibalism was not covered.. I wonder why.
The fact that all non-African people carry 2-4 percent of N genes in their genomes suggests that: 1-All of the non-African people are actually N-H hybrids, not purely H sapiens. 2- H sapiens couldn't survive outside of Africa. They either went extinct or returned to Africa. 3- Only N-H hybrids could survive outside of Africa. 4- There are 2 kinds of humans: a) African H sapiens and b) non-African N-H hybrids. 5- Without N-H hybridization, the path of human evolution would have been entirely different.
Good job Emre
They are still among us, they are the Right Wingers, the only ones who are poor but defend all of the actions of the rich.😂😂😂
I thought Denosovans were like a bridge population. What’s exciting is that every year, machines are getting better and better while needing less and less DNA!
