India’s enduring battle: Women vs. sexual violence | DW Documentary
Sexual violence and misogyny are part of everyday life for many women in India. But an increasing number are breaking the silence and fighting for respect and their rights – with words, music and physical strength. Activist Usha Vishwakarma trains women in the art of self-defense. Many members of her “Red Brigade” have themselves suffered sexual violence. Rapper JQueen channels her anger into powerful rap songs as a solo artist or with her all-female band “Wild Wild Women.” And student Sheshandeep Kaur Sidhu campaigns to get more women to enter politics. They all represent a new generation pushing back against traditional gender roles. They demand respect and
personal safety despite structural barriers and societal expectations. Their resistance shows that change begins at the point where women empower themselves.

This will be a bigger step than man stepping on moon for human-beings, it's the well-being for the whole mother earth and future humans, for human to be whole again, all creatures need to be equal for maximum efficiency and progress/longevity/eternity, not farm or to be farmed
Thanks for sharing ❤
Just an observation, but it seems like a majority of darker complexion India's women are being targetted.
Why Indian women are mostly fat?
On the other hand majority of Indian men are slim
Why so?
The new generation of cat ladies..
"We dont need no man" only to come screaming back when they hit their 40's
And no ,I'm married for over 2 decades😂
The manosphere,patriarchy…. 🤣😂🤭
❤❤❤
While western feminist play the eternal victim for online validation, women in other parts of the world suffer from actual systemic abuse. Western feminists defend rapists while complaining about the "patriarchy". Women of India do whatever you need to do to protect yourselves. However, do not adopt feminism, it is a misanthropic movement that especially hates women.
I don't even have a right to stop my own life. If u ppl made any sense I wouldn't want to stop my life.
It's only "the largest democracy" on paper 🧐 A country cannot be truly democratic when patriarchy rules 🧐 It's too oppressive and demoralizing to women ♀️
To fix a problem, we have to go to the source, in this case, the men… at my opinion, educating men respect and non-violence towards the women would avoid them to learn self-defense !!
in my opinion girls should learn self-defense but most importantly they should learn how to use weapon because women cant win against men one on one
India is the safest place for women in the world. Propaganda video as usual😢
Sending love to the brave Indian women who are working hard to change the mentality and system. ❤ Great documentary.
Indian women don't have a choice to wear the clothes they want. If they wear small clothes, they get blamed for the rape. India is an inspiration for taliban
This is gender discrimination… Men’s also have done suicide due to false legal criminal cases … it’s monster which can come in any gender either male or female… the person who did wrong should be punished not man or women
Elections dont mean democracy, should be but dont, Indian is not it.
Good from women to fight, one rape every 15 minutes is horrible.
Thank you DW for always posting educational videos. ❤
I was in India last year December with my husband. That country is absolutely NOT for women. We had many conversations with Indian women. I would absolutely not recommend female travelers to visit that country solo. It is like women are like subhumans in that country. I feel sorry for women living in that country.
Most men are not protectors. Men are the danger for women, children and other men.
We women everywhere must unite and fight against misogyny. Fight for our rights and laws, and raise little girls strong and independent.
Hiding and remaining silent out of fear is understandable, but it doesn't help and doesn't improve anything. We women and girls must stand together, speak up, and also get angry.
Men must feel involved and defend women. There must be mutual respect between men and women. 😊
India is the most dengerous country in the world for women. Rape is rampant. Every two seconds, a rape in India
Sad and heartbreaking
