The High-Risk Military Tactics Immigration Units Use in Chicago
In an investigative report titled “The High-Risk Military Tactics Immigration Units Use in Chicago,” the Wall Street Journal delves into the controversial strategies employed by federal officers in their efforts to enforce immigration laws against a backdrop of rising tensions in urban areas. The piece sheds light on the reassignment of personnel from various agencies, emphasizing the drastic measures taken to bolster immigration enforcement in the city.
At the heart of the report is “Operation Midway Blitz,” a multi-agency task force that illustrates the aggressive approach taken by immigration enforcement units. The analysis opens with a look at the military-style raids that have become a hallmark of this operation. These tactics not only emphasize a confrontational approach but also reflect a shift towards employing elite units trained in high-stakes environments.
One of the most striking techniques highlighted is the Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT), a maneuver typically reserved for high-speed pursuits. This approach allows agents to safely disable vehicles in high-pressure scenarios, raising questions about its appropriateness in immigration enforcement contexts. The report emphasizes the potential risks associated with such tactics, especially in densely populated urban settings.
Tactical arrests, another focal point of the report, are executed with a level of precision reminiscent of military engagements. The use of surveillance and intelligence gathering ensures that operatives are well-prepared before executing arrests, but the potential for excessive force looms large. This aspect prompts critical commentary from civil rights advocates concerned about the implications of such aggressive enforcement measures on vulnerable communities.
Further complicating the discussion, the report underscores instances where standard protocols have been breached. The use of tear gas and other crowd control measures in confined spaces raises alarms about the escalation of violence and the treatment of individuals apprehended during these operations. Critics argue that the lack of restraint exhibited in these circumstances can lead to tragic outcomes.
Overall, the WSJ’s exploration of the high-risk tactics used by immigration units in Chicago paints a picture of a contentious and evolving landscape of law enforcement. As the conversation around immigration and public safety continues to develop, this investigation serves as a profound reminder of the complexity and implications of militarized approaches to civil issues. The findings call for a critical reevaluation of tactics, accountability, and the overarching goals driving such operations.

Love those tactics!! MORE!!!!
They are doing too much
Now maybe Americans can find a job, an apartment and room, and now to enjoy our parks!
"elite units" aka dudes who didn't get into, or were fired from the police force.
"military tactics" aka attacking and kidnapping unarmed civilians
As a veteran, I never had to hide my face in Iraq and Afghanistan. So why would they hide their face in our homeland?
Gon Lock up all ICE employees and throw the key away in 3 years. Fading of the Red White and Blue
IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT (ICE) AGENTS GRABBED A TEENAGE GIRL, A US CITIZEN, OUT OF A VEHICLE AND THREW HER TO THE GROUND, HANDCUFFED HER, AND PUT A KNEE ON HER BACK – ALL AS SHE INSISTED SHE WAS NOT RESISTING. THE VIOLENT INTERACTION WAS CAPTURED ON VIDEO.
ICE Trials Now!
the absolute definition of a police state .. the US is completely effed .. crazies on a powertrip ..
Grasping at straws here WSJ. Maybe do a video on why these tactics are necessary, very one sided story.

One more time: "There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people". -ADM Adama BSG
Blackhawks? Military uniforms? AR weapons, not handguns? Bearcat/MRAPS? yeah, they can call themselves ICE, but this is NOT a federal Law Enforcements Agency. It is a paramilitary organization taking orders direct from the president.
The way you said the PIT maneuver is "banned" made it sound like its banned in most of the country. I don't think thats the case. Theres just various limitations and rules about when and where it can be used.
Who cares? They are targeting illegal aliens, any citizens that get swept up are either impeding arrest or mistaken identity..
I dunno… I'd cover my face too if people were doxxing me and my family. I'd use "military tactics" too if people were stalking us around the city and then ramming their cars into us. I'd definitely consider that to be a "high-risk" job. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
And yet your are defending Israël…
Double standards
Thank you for this. You cannot trust the propaganda coming from DHS-HSI. They are engaged in blatant bigotry, the likes of which are more common from the KKK. Kristy Noem is on social media, posting photos of detainees apprehended and charging them with crimes without providing supporting evidence. She wants her audience to believe that every brown person is a criminal when statistics show migrants commit fewer crimes than U.S. citizens on a per 100 basis. It’s not illegal for migrants to cross the border if they claim asylum. They then, per law, are entitled to a hearing at the Immigration Court. ICE is not allowing them to follow the legal process. It’s going to get worse the more violence ICE is allowed to perpetrate
It’s important for everyone to know that WSJ is dogmatically committed to free market capitalism and the maximalist reduction of any kind of border, and thus promotes the free movement of all labor, legal or illegal. All their news stories flow from these principles.
ICE is not aggressive enough.
