In “Was I Too Asian for America?” I delve into my personal journey as an Asian-American grappling with feelings of being an outsider in my own country. Despite being born in America, I’ve often faced a sense of alienation, feeling like a guest in a place I should call home. Join me as I share the raw and honest truths about my experiences, the struggles of cultural identity, and the complex emotions surrounding my heritage. This is a conversation I’ve never had before on my channel—let’s explore what it truly means to navigate life between two worlds. Recorded November 2025.

You're not happy anymore. You don't smile like you did when you lived in NYC and Florida.
You don't have a glow even when you talk about this supposed partner you have.
You're going through it and I don't think posting these negative videos will help.
Your ethnicity has little bearing in NY it's built on immigration, i'm tired of identity politics.
I've been subbed to your channel for years through different accounts, this being the main one, and i wish you the best whatever you decide to do, i love watching your streams.
Your Dad's pretty good too, it must run in the family. Good luck ken and as long as you stream i'll be watching.
I think you’re lumping all Americans together . I’m not Asian but I’m more like you and I grew up more like you.. New York City is a different planet. Much more aggressive. Not all Americans are like that. The few New Yorkers I’ve met are hard core and not too concerned about the feelings of others. But I can understand how you feel. You seem much happier where you are living now.
Another good talk of your experiences and insight.
Love you AK!
Too many Americans want to be professional athletes, but the vast majority of them will never get anywhere with it. You don't really need to be around most of these life wasters.
AK I miss your NYC videos, but you must do what is best for you 👍👍😁
AK I am white English born in London but nowdays I find London is no longer for the likes of me, 🇬🇧 is changing rapidly not for the better, we are going through strange times. So I can understand the way you feel. I don't like politics because they don't represent the people who pay their wages and I get on with all Faiths etc. I find media and politicians change peoples views. Enjoy your life wherever you are 👍😁
AK – fellow ABC born and raised in NYC chinatown. Can identify all the things you shared.. growing up on lower eastside. Life throws you a set of cards in a loaded deck. Make the best out of it. Chinese culture is all about pursuit of $ which is not healthy. Never about happiness or figuring out how to be happy. Get past these chinese cultural drawbacks because they all add up to burden we as ABC's have to deal with.
You’re just too low energy and average for a fast pace country that judges everything by its cover, dude. It has nothing to do with race. I know a lot of Asian dudes who are ultra cool.
Btw, American isn’t a race😂.
Looking at the letters on the signs he's walking past, is he in Vietnam?
Actionkid, I feel you, since I am a foreigner who lives in NYC, not even American. And I know that you had a lot of success with your youtube channel but, as you said, you can't be showing endlessly the same places over and over again. Even though you were always roaming around my place (I live in Midtown), I watched you not because of the places you showcased, which I know well, but because you are kind and have so much to say and are so entertaining. I know you tried with the cooking stuff and that didn't work out either. And I'm sorry to hear about the dating life. It's hard for some people, so I think it's more oneself than the place they're at, but that doesn't make you less of a person. On the contrary, you're probably better stuff than the average and therefore don't quite click easily with another person. Anyways, what matters here is that you have an incredible talent: your inteligence, originality and creativity, your train of thoughts and easiness to express yourself. That is why people follow you (even though, yes, wandering around NYC helps) and I am sure you will find another way to continue and grow your channel. Also, it's cool to try a new thing/place. If you regret it, you can go back, but if you have not tried it, you might wind up regretting never having tried it :).Way to go, and greetings from NYC!!!!
Flushing!!!
Hey Ken everybody will support whatever you decide to do with your life and channel. I came from Taishan Guangdong too when I was 3 years old I’m basically born here in Chicago all my life . Went back to China in 2012 with some friends saw China in a different light . Depends how you want to live you maybe live in an Asian country or maybe somewhere like Vancouver or Toronto it’s a lot of Asian around too so take your time to decide and just enjoy your life.
Ken, one in seven NYC residents is asian and the asian population in the City is steadily increasing.
Lots of people feel free to dismiss the lived experiences of Asians, and you can see that demonstrated beautifully in this comment section. What you're experiencing is the "Forever Foreigner" stereotype that many Asian-Americans face, and Pew Research Center's 2023 study on this is very illuminating. I recommend you check it out.
Dude is crashing out
je bent een goed mens , geen zorgen .
Hey Ken – I love how you're being so vulnerable and sharing your story. We need more of this on YouTube. Keep going and I wish you the best of luck! I'm going to southeast Asia for the first time next year and your videos have been a great help! So thank you!
I wish you all the best on this journey. It’s not an easy one. Your Dad was born and raised in America. I wonder about the bigotry he faced back in the ‘50s, ‘60s, etc. I also can’t help but wonder what he’s thinking at this time, although we’ll never know.
I believe you might be making generalizations about Americans based solely on your experiences in New York City. New York is a vastly different city compared to most other places in the United States. A different world
America is a melting pot of all peoples throughout the world. Asian, Black, Latino and yes, even the Irish helped to build this nation – all with their labor, fortitude & vision toward making this a more perfect union. Sadly, it came at the expense of indigenous Americans… Another story. Big picture, brother Ken. Your people, whoever they might be, will find you.
Everyone should be welcome everywhere, we’re all gods children and multiculturalism and diversity is great. We need fewer barriers even better no barriers. I think America is a lot more welcoming and diverse than Britain, there is too much racism and division in the UK largely caused by the media and press.
Finding a suitable mate is not easy because women today have their own money and usually a job or are working themselves towards a career….and unless a man is aggressive and let's everyone he knows that he wants a mate then it's going to be a difficult task. A man has to advertise and explore to find a mate. The same applies to women.😊♥️
Latinos are going to take over America.
the thing is you are too cerebral. girls quite frankly are not attracted to that
you need to discover your emotional and passionate side within you
Ak please dont be to hard on yourself, the world is your oyster, its personal preference i get that, your wishes will happen naturally i wish you the absolute best ❤
No, you were not too Asian for America. You gave up too easily. You needed better skills and strategy.
No action I loved you’re walks and live streams in NewYork you are always welcomed in America lol stay in New York please
. Be glad it lasted as long as it did. When you can do something special, you'll get something special….. and having a camera is no longer special. It's only your hubris that leads you to believe you should be on top. just by showing up. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and blaming your race…. The more you do that , the more of a loser you'll continue to be. It's your fault. That is the ultimate truth and when you finally accept the truth…. things will get better. Grow up if you want to live in the big city. Lead or get pushed out of the way.
. People followed you at the beginning because there were very few other people doing it. That's the only reason why…. but now, you're just another guy who does it. In all this time, you made very little improvement in your presentation, while many other more interesting , entertaining, and knowledgeable people ate your lunch. Like your friend Tom the tour giving, former lawyer turned comedian, He is hilarious and extremely knowledgeable about all the building he's talking about. YOU- are not. And how about the walk on wall street guy…. He's a realtor that knows absolutely everything about the buildings, who owns them, the stories behind what has happened in the buildings ,what's inside of them and he knows all about the architecture as well. You simply can not compete with people that are much more sophisticated and developed than you. You were one of the first people to do it- and that's all you've got going for you….. Well . going, going gone
I don't know if you're too asian or not for america, I just know that you gave us the best and the most authentic NYC tours..ps. the Boston tours were my personal favorite.. Thank you Ken, and good luck to you wherever you are 🍀
Ken I've been watching you're channel now way before Covid, I'm 82 yrs old. and the first time I actually saw you on camera. I just said to myself OH'! he's Asian cool!. you're voice. demeanor. linguistic ability told me you were an intelligent individual. and knowing you came from NYC. I knew you were from one of America's ethnic melting Pots. There is not a town, city. village in Americal that is not in some manner an Ethnic mix of nationalities. That ! is America". If you look at it. lots of and just abut every nationality has been criticized by demeaning people. That does not justify that Nationality just the individual demeaning it. and its taken for a grain os salt by most of us. I see an Asian, or a Black person, Indian. Italian. Polish, Jewish, I do not see them as an Ethnic individual or group. I just see them as another American like me. And I accept them for who they are not what they are. That in essence is what makes this nation great. we are a nation of peoples races creeds, not just one. Just keep being who you are. from where I stand you are doing just fine. Thanks for sharing. ECF.
American, Asian or some other race, we are all human beings. You are able to do whatever you want in your life, and what you have done is fantastic !!
