Author Video Description

Maria Tymtsias spent years trying to fit into careers and expectations that were never truly hers. In this deeply personal talk, she reflects on the pressure young people facing to have it all figured out early in life, and the quiet anxiety that comes when they do not.

As the co-founder of a start-up, an ecosystem of AI tools and an expert community, and as a mother of two, Maria shares her journey of searching for meaning, sustainability, and authenticity beyond paths chosen by others. Through her story, she explores what happens when we allow ourselves to question expectations, change direction, and build lives that actually feel like our own.

This talk is for everyone who has ever felt lost, behind, or uncertain about their future, and a reminder that not knowing who you want to become at 17 may not be failure, but the beginning of discovering yourself. Maria is the Co-Founder at Palau — an ecosystem of AI tools and an expert community. She is also a mother of two.

She spent years pretending to belong in careers others chose for her until she found sustainability and built something of her own. She wants to be a TEDx speaker because nobody told her at 17 that it is okay not to know who you want to become — and she wants to be that person for someone else. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
