In “Il Ritmo della Creatività nell’Era dell’IA,” Allegra De Filippo explores the intersection of creativity and artificial intelligence, shedding light on how these two seemingly disparate realms can harmonize rather than compete. Through engaging anecdotes and compelling examples, De Filippo emphasizes that while AI can enhance creative processes, it cannot replicate the human touch that fuels true innovation. She argues that embracing AI as a tool can unlock new potentials for artists, writers, and creators, enabling them to push boundaries and explore uncharted territories. By fostering a collaborative relationship with technology, individuals can elevate their creative expression to unprecedented heights. De Filippo’s inspiring insights challenge us to reconsider our understanding of creativity in a digital age and encourage a future where human ingenuity and artificial intelligence dance in tandem, paving the way for new forms of artistic discovery. This TEDx talk serves as a call to action for creators to harness the power of AI, not as a threat, but as a partner in their creative journeys.

Author Video Description
Allegra takes us on a journey between music and artificial intelligence, beginning with a simple, universal gesture: tuning a guitar. In that fragile balance between tension and release, she finds the essence of creativity—the same space where she learned to connect two seemingly opposite worlds: art and science.
From her early experience singing in a children’s choir to her studies in classical guitar and her current work as an AI researcher, Allegra explores how creativity is not a division between disciplines, but a rhythm we learn to navigate. In a world driven by the algorithm-driven speed of today, artificial intelligence is often seen as a tool for acceleration—but it can also become a way to rediscover our own creative tempo.
Through references to Bach, Mozart, and Schoenberg, and through a personal experiment combining AI and dance, she reveals a key idea: machines can generate possibilities, but only humans can give them breath, meaning, and emotional depth.
This talk invites us not to surrender creativity to technology, but to enter into dialogue with it. Like a metronome, AI can mark time—but it is up to us to decide how to play. Researcher and lecturer at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DISI) of the University of Bologna. Her research focuses on Artificial Intelligence systems for decision support, optimization integrated with machine learning, and Generative AI, with a specific emphasis on environmental sustainability.
A graduate of the Bologna Conservatory in Classical Guitar, she has spent years developing multidisciplinary approaches at the intersection of AI and creativity. She is a member of the Performing Robots research group, where she works on human-machine co-creation and the energy awareness of AI models. Her work has been widely published in international journals and conferences, and she serves on the editorial board of ACM Computing Surveys. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
About TEDxTalks
TEDx is an international community that organizes TED-style events anywhere and everywhere — celebrating locally-driven ideas and elevating them to a global stage. TEDx events are produced independently of TED conferences, each event curates speakers on their own, but based on TED’s format and rules.
