Summary of The Last Posse
The Last Posse, directed by George Sherman and released in 1953, is a gripping Western that delves into themes of morality, revenge, and the burdens of leadership. The film stars Broderick Crawford as Sheriff John Frazier, a weary alcoholic who finds himself embroiled in a dangerous manhunt. The cast also features John Derek as Jed Clayton and Charles Bickford as the vengeful Sampson Drune.
The plot unfolds as the posse returns to their town empty-handed, having failed to capture the notorious Romer family or recover the stolen money. A very good movie anything with Broderick Crawford is worth watching
Haaa Broderick Crawford in a western ? And good too. There's too many veterans in this film to count. Pretty good story and well paced.
Great movie!!
Herzlichen Dank
good job with the movie where are the subtitles
Film quality in the past was superb…
No horseman would let a packhorse carry the water for his horse or himself.
Just doesn't happen.
Great movie. Any film with Broderick Crawford is a must for me. Fine actor. I enjoyed him in Highway Patrol. He could solve a crime each week in around 25 minutes 😂

Good, enjoyable film. Thank you for posting.
Tendré que aprender el idioma ,con estas películas tan buenas que ponen y no me entero de nada 😮
Broderick Crawford and Charles Bickford were big stars in their day. John Derrick was a new face and a good actor who took a meteoric rise to fame. The rest of the people were all veteran character actors and famiiar faces in westerns! A good western flick!
Thirty seconds in and a BS commercial
….. back in the old days when the women were women and the men were men , and the sheep were scared .
The plot of a "literary western" sadly embarrassed by worse than amateurish bar fight "choreography".
It is hard to Believe they had such good film making skills back in the western days , It is Great So clear and even sounds great . This was 1865 No 1701 when were cowboys around Anyways.
Charles Bickford was in The Big Country and played a similar character. This one had some great scenery in it with an interesting story. Some very expert horsemanship by the one big stuntman. Not sure the horse falling was intended but he handled it smoothly. Great Drive-in movie of 1953.
That coverlet on the bed covering the sheriff was probably
years old at the time this film was made. And if it was cared for properly, might be worth a pretty penny in a decent auction today
Thanks for posting. Tried to watch a while ago, and they were charging $$ here. Glad it's free again.
EN PRÉAMBULE JE CITE ANDRE GIDE & WILLIAM FAULKNER COMME INSTIGATEUR DU CANEVAS..UNE SÉRIE B CONCIS…BIEN ÉCRIT…LA PRESTATION MAGISTRALE DE BRODERICK CRAWFORD..DES RETOURNEMENTS DE SITUATIONS…JUSQUE CE QU'IL FAUT D'ACTION…UN FILM QUI PLAIRA…AUX AMATEURS DU GENRE…
Very interesting story (also because of the way it is told using flashbacks), with a long western tropes line up : outdated and despised sheriff finding redemption by doing his job , prominent but compromised citizens, the classic opposition between a cattle baron and the poor herders, a touch of Oedipus…
Add a nice b&w photo, superb locations, a wide collection of western familiar faces, a quite surprising ending, a glimpse of Agatha Christie in the West, it gives surely not the best 1953 western but very enjoyable in spite of some flaws (especially the actress…)
