Jacqie Rivera, the second daughter of iconic regional Mexican singer Jenni Rivera, releases her new album Corazón Desnudo Friday (Oct. 16) via Soundflower Inc/Virgin Music Group. The 12-track collection blends pop-rock with touches of regional Mexican music. “Even though it leans into a different genre, I had to add some of what’s in my DNA,” Rivera tells Billboard Español about her second studio album, following 2025’s En Otra Vida.
While juggling her responsibilities as CEO of Jenni Rivera Enterprises — the company that manages her late mother’s legacy and music catalog — Jacqie made time to write some of the songs on her new LP as a form of catharsis. “It was a very healing process,” she says. “It’s not just an album of songs; it’s something I’ve lived through over the past few years. It reflects the things that have brought me to this point in my life.”
At a time when music allows for more genre-blending than ever, Rivera experiments with R&B, pop and Latin sounds, channeling emotion through her soft yet powerful voice on songs like “Mi superpoder,” “Pa’ migajas,” “Amaneció en París,” “Rota” and “Cuando cambies volveré.”
Corazón Desnudo also includes a particularly meaningful song for the 37-year-old artist and businesswoman: a duet with her mother on Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You.” The track pairs an archival recording of Jenni Rivera with Jacqie’s present-day vocals and was released as the album’s first single on July 24. Mother and daughter once performed the song live when Jacqie was just a teenager.
“That invitation was incredibly special. I think my mom saw something in me that made her believe I might eventually pursue music,” she says of the artist known as the Diva of Banda, who died in a 2012 plane crash at age 43. “Even though I also have to be involved in the business now, it inspires me to remember that she would get up at 5 a.m. to organize everything she had to do.”
