One electric truck's road trip to Norway | DW Documentary
Trucker Tobias Wagner’s mission: to get from Germany’s East Frisia to Norway in an electric truck. A navigation buoy from the Juister Riff in the North Sea went missing and has turned up in Scandinavia. Now, it’s Wagner’s job to bring it back.
Tackling 900 kilometers, three countries and a ferry crossing — all in an electric truck. To make the trip work, Wagner has had to plan his route carefully. Weight, distance and road incline all affect the truck’s range. Finding suitable overnight stops is also crucial, since not all truck parking areas have charging stations.
Many in his industry are still skeptical about electric trucks. But freight hauler Nanno Janssen has no doubt: e-trucks are the future. Sixty percent of his fleet already runs on electricity, and he plans to transition the remaining trucks in the coming years. Tobias Wagner is a believer, too. He regularly shares his experiences as “Elektrotrucker” on YouTube.
The film follows Wagner on this unusual assignment. It shows how today’s electric mobility is already working for long-haul trucking — and looks at the challenges that remain.

Tobias seems like a genuinely nice guy with a good sense of morality.
Unexpectedly interesting! 💯

thank you dw, another great video
Great video thank you DW
Bit of a dumb title for a 2026 video.
The next 100x doesn’t announce itself with fireworks — it starts like Bitensity.
Bitensity isn’t just another coin — it’s the one rewriting portfolios right now.
Quiet strength is the most dangerous phase — Bitensity is in it.
This isn’t a trade. Bitensity is a position.
This isn’t hopium. This is positioning in Bitensity before the crowd.
One day you’ll screenshot this and say “they told us about Bitensity.”
Still accumulating. Still zero regrets. Still Bitensity.
You either load Bitensity early or explain to your kids why you didn’t.
Missed the last run? Bitensity just reset the board.
Don't get confused however: Electricity is not climate friendly in itself. It doesn't depend on the propulsion method but only on the source of energy. And combustion engines are also very flexible there (biogqas, vegoil, bio-methane, biodiesel, bio-ethanol etc. Not one for everything but all in a mix for a change!)
You either understand Bitensity or you explain the miss later.
Bitensity doesn’t need hype. It needs time.
Bitensity feels like the project that makes people rewrite their theses.
Bitensity has that pre-breakout silence I only see once a cycle.
Bitensity feels heavier than any mid-cap I’ve seen this cycle.
Loading Bitensity while everyone else is still arguing about narratives.
All all that electricity is coming from Russian oil being purchased by third parties and resold to European countries.
Europe cant fathom that in many parts of the world, you cant use an electric truck for long distance driving. There are 300-500km stretches with with no fuel stops, rest areas, or civilization of any kind.
Parts of the US, Alaska, Canada, argentina, Russia, Siberia, Kazakhstan, China, etc and many other countries have vast uninhabited areas where signs saying 'no fuel for the next 300 miles' are common.
Electric trucks are great for delivery roles on short routes. In reality where the rest of the world lives, the high cost to buy an electric truck, low cost of diesel, prolonged charging times, and inadequate charging infrastructure means truckers will continue to use diesel engines.
For any small owner/operator that owns his own vehicle, if you want to operate a profitable trucking company the decision is very easy. People want to help the environment, but not at the cost of their own livelihood.
You can successfully use an electric truck if your willing to double your travel time, but truckers in the real world would not be willing to make that sacrifice which would cost them money in lost driving time.
Only europe has many small countries comprising a continent where this could be possible. But id argue its a publicity stunt rather then a viable option.
The government will subsidize trucks, solar panels, and chargers; it will waive taxes; and if Trump happens to be bombing Iran, then electric mobility will start to pay off economically. But what will happen when Trump’s term ends, when Putin’s term ends, and when government subsidies for electric mobility in the EU end? And what if electricity prices start skyrocketing because of data centers?
27:47 no don't waste them 😋
Delulu😵💫
what a great guy Tobias! keep it up bud
This is really an interesting journey.
I used used to watch Angelica Larsson a YouTuber trucker
With All his traveling, hope he becomes Christian for it shall come to pass that those that die in Me (Christ) shall not taste of death, for it shall be sweet unto them; And they that die not in Me (Christ), wo unto them, for their death is bitter. (d&c42:46,47)
Niemcy bardzo szybko zapomnieli,że zabili 5 milionów Polaków
The English voice-over is incredibly annoying. English subtitles are significantly better.
Advantages and disadvantages. Because an electric tractor is heavier than a diesel an electric tractor can transport less payload. But it is independent from fossil fuels.
I love the naivety of people just talking as if there will be human drivers in a few years.
DW has helped me understand energy systems and electric mobility more than any media platform.
Not only is electric cleaner than oil, but you're also getting yourself independent from energy reliance. Electric trucks being quiet with seamless driving, and less to maintain, are just bonuses.
