After the US presidential debate, should Democrats dump Biden?
Following the first debate between the two main candidates for US president, the issue of President Joe Biden’s viability has once again been brought to the forefront within the Democratic Party. During the debate, Biden notably struggled to finish his thoughts multiple times, reigniting concerns about his ability to lead effectively.
Democratic strategist Orson Porter recently discussed the situation with host Steve Clemons, stating that there is “no upside” for the Democrat Party in keeping Biden as their candidate. Despite calls from within the party for Biden to step down, it appears that this scenario is not likely to happen in the near future.
On the other hand, Republican strategist Janelle King suggested that supporters of former President Donald Trump are feeling more confident in Trump’s chances of winning as long as Biden remains the opponent.
As the debate continues within the Democratic Party about the future of Biden’s candidacy, the question remains: should Democrats ultimately decide to move on from Biden in order to secure a stronger position in the upcoming election? The discussion surrounding this topic is sure to continue leading up to the next phase of the US presidential race.
