In his TEDxYouth talk, Kamil Dubno dives deep into the complex concept of national identity, challenging the audience to reflect on what truly defines their sense of belonging to a particular nation. With a thought-provoking approach, Dubno questions the conventional markers of national identity such as language, culture, and history, pointing out that these factors may not always accurately represent an individual’s true connection to their country.
Drawing on personal anecdotes and societal examples, the speaker encourages viewers to look beyond the surface level characteristics and delve deeper into the values and beliefs that shape their identity. He argues that in a globalized world where borders are increasingly blurred, it is essential to redefine our understanding of national identity and embrace diversity and inclusivity.
Through his engaging storytelling and insightful perspectives, Kamil Dubno challenges the audience to question their preconceived notions of national identity and inspires them to explore the rich tapestry of their own cultural heritage.

Author Video Description
I recently got into International Relations, where countries braking up and going into war are unfortunately extremely common. Going down the rabbit hole I discovered a philosophical problem “What is Nationality, if borders change so much and are so arbitrary?” which I explore in my speech. With it, I hope to broaden mindsets, make people more aware of vagueness and create a more inclusive community, while also dissecting the human need to classify and categorize everything into neat (but often false) labels. Hi, my name is Kami. I am an IBDP 1 student who is interested in International Relations, Politics, Economics and History, which is why I want to peruse diplomacy in the future. Outside of school I love taking part in MUNs, high school initiatives, poetry and fashion. I also love to walk around Warsaw and think of why society is the way it is, all of these somewhat gave the basis for my speech. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
