Self-driving cars promise to revolutionize mobility and drastically reduce traffic deaths caused by human error.
But are we moving too fast?
In a high-stakes race worth trillions, companies are testing autonomous vehicles on public roads, despite major technical flaws and tragic accidents.
This NOVA documentary explores the promise, peril, and ethical dilemmas of a technology not yet ready for the road.
From the first fatal crash involving a robot driver to cutting-edge AI and sensors, it raises a haunting question: can we ever truly trust a computer with our lives? The future is coming fast—but is it safe?

お約束「♪いっぱい聞けて、いっぱい喋れるwww」
I predict a future where pedestrians will know they have right of way and these autonomous cars won't be able to go anywhere in towns and cities. They will just have to sit there while people cross the road in front of them.
When all cars are autonomous it should be a rare thing for accidents to happen. All vehicles will then be able to sync with each other and reduce traffic jams – especially those caused by stop-start desynch waves.
It’s a BIG NOPE from Me!!!
Computers in self driving cars can be hacked and kill the driver anonymously by anyone around the world. All this is just profit driven 'Progress' to stultify our brains and call that 'Safety'. There is no 'Safety' ! It's a term invented by man to calm the nerves. We just entered a new phase of 'Zombie Tech'.
This documentary – show how amazing humans are! What an amazing creature! 🙂
This driverless tech is another solution that was invented to solve a non-problem. If you’re that lazy to drive a car, which is much easier than running or walking to your destination then you have a problem! As simple as that!
What will happen when there's fully autonomous cars?
1 – Everybody that is not able to drive today, will be able to drive an autonomous car. That alone means a 30% increase in cars on the road.
2 – Families that don't just get cars for all of them, will have the car drive home empty after arriving in the office, at school, etc. Causing another major increase in traffic.
3 – Don't pay for parking anymore. Just have your car drive around the block endlessly. Even more cars in traffic.
Add to this that autonomous cars will stop for literally everything. Pedestrians and cyclists will literally rule the road.
If you like driving or like to get anywhere fast, then protest and boycott self-driving cars as much as possible.
Where is the fun of driving in a driverless car? No, thanks.
I dont even like automatic gearshift, much less a self driving car.
As a taxi, maybe okay, if youre too drunk to drive. But not as my personal vehicle!
This is idiotic. You cant train the cars' software to every possibility.Try them in India in traffic of Mumbai city. Then you see if it works….
Espero que tarden muchos muchos años en llegar, yo no voy a poner mi vida en manos de un robot hackeable
Driverless car are cool but unnecessary. Most people have no problem driving their own car. If they don't want to drive, just take public transport.
Technology is crap! Eventually people are going to be so dumb they will be incapable of thinking for themselves!
End up like the obese people on wheelchairs staring at a screen in the movie wallE
The hackers will be having a field day..
This might be acceptable if the person who wrote the script understood English.
on my chanel you find ideas better than this video
4:25 – He conveniently left out the part where he mentions they won’t need to pay anyone to sit behind the wheel. As always, it’s about the money.
18:55 – Avoiding jerky rides caused by unnecessary braking: Accelerating consumes the most energy when driving, so the biggest savings come from preventing excessive, unnecessary braking. I’m sure they figured that out—and that’s likely the real reason they removed the safety braking system.
And of course, Uber tried to shift all the final responsibility onto the woman behind the wheel. Crooks
Just like AI and all other scientific and technological advances, we must do everything in our power as long as we are alive and existing, to resist all of these as much as possible – history teaches us that even if these things are tools, they will always fall into the wrong hands and will always be used for evil purposes – back in my teens in the 80’s when I was green in judgement in my salad days, I embraced such tech advances, I was a leftist, I supported trade unions and I supported gay rights while rejecting traditional values, as back then I had no wisdom as to how the world really works, but now in my 50’s I am totally and fundamentally opposed to all of these things while embracing traditional values
All this is wrong. We need to teach traffic rules.
There is no self in "Self Driving" cars. 😂
BULL. It’s about the same as always “MONEY” making money without “EMPLOYMENT”
I can't wait to never drive again, would rather ride in a self driving vehicle
With the world's poverty and all, am just wondering how necessary all this is. Cool and expensive technology but unnecessary
45.25 a DeLorean, really. Back to the Future
Never ever will I use an automated vehicle
