Video Description for “Am I Too American For Asia?”
Join me as I navigate the fascinating world of being Asian-American in Asia! While my appearance may suggest I fit right in, my American mannerisms, accent, and way of thinking often lead to misunderstandings and cultural clashes. In this vlog, I share personal encounters that highlight the challenges and humor of my Western upbringing colliding with Eastern traditions. Recorded in December 2025, this eye-opening journey explores the unique feeling of belonging and the complexities of identity in a diverse world. Don’t miss out on the fun—let’s dive in!

Dear 40 year old that calls himself kid, please go back to just a video without this bs. Nobody cares really..
There are many levels of society everywhere. Not every Vietnamese is on the same level. Interesting, introspective comment on your part. Thanks!
I enjoyed your walking videos and there were 2 cities in your US road trip that I really liked and eventually ended up going to this year because of watching your initial videos and when I came back from both trips watched the videos again which was really nice.
Since you started your ‘vlogging’ videos there is a side of you that I just don’t like that and each time you make another video that view gets reinforced even more by what you say.
I just can’t unsee it and I’m sure other people fell the same way 😢
its a good analysis my man but sounds like you need to move on. Get inspired about something new and keep making great videos please, we enjoy what you do!
I never really fit in anywhere, either. Kenneth, you are 100% Kenneth and that's all that matters. It's ok to learn local customs and languages but remember to be who you are, don't try to fit in. You are a genuine and likable person. You have had an interesting life. For fun, look up comedian Henry Cho. His parents were born and raised in S. Korea; Henry was born and raised in Knoxville and has a southern accent. Fitting in is overrated. Enjoy your time there!
Vietnam wouldn't be my first choice for living in Asia. HK, Macau, Singapore, some place like that yeah
Your videos are very interesting!
I still say that most of your videos on this certain subject is nothing but an simple gripe. Just stay positive and things should work out. I know that being around people who judge you on your appearance sometimes can be difficult. But at least you have the knowledge and experience of being subject to different cultures. Which most of us wouldn't even get the opportunity to experience both. For me I loved your E Bike rides. Doing that looks enjoyable.

Although you are Asian-American you grew up in NYC so that makes you a New Yawker no matter where you live. Enjoy your travel adventures for what they are without worrying about what strangers might think of you. The old saying: "Once a New Yawker, always a New Yawker"…no matter what your ethnicity may be. Bet you could go for a Sabrett's street hot dog right now!! Have fun AK.
Kenneth, do you know how many times you mentioned that you are an American and that you are from the United States in this video? Do you have any idea what would be expected of you if you did meet an Asian girl and decided to stay in Asia with her? Do you know what her parents would expect of you? Have you thought about getting a job in Asia, because your new wife would be expecting you to stay in Asia with her? Have you really thought about what it is to be an expatriate?
Hi AK, I find your new content interesting. I appreciate your vulnerability. Keep being true to yourself. I hope you are finding what you need.🥰
Somewhere in the world you will find yourself comfortable in your own skin. But then It's all in the mindset.
Have ya tried spending more time in cities with larger expat communities like Da Nang, Koi Samui, Pattaya or Phuket for more western food options and more diverse populations.
Hi AK
Sending u love and lite from eastern canada been with u since long time 2016.
U are maturing is what its called dear friend. At 74, I innerstand. I don’t like the “way” it is either
They say our world is taking a huge huge turn and will show in 2026
U are ok believe me smart efficient want things done on time. I have always been the same
Its difficult to do any changing with personality. I am Welsh. If u know hoe the English are in London, its me
Think of it this way
U are very fortunate to be both American and Asian. Try to go with the flow that is in yourself. Ground yourself everyday bare feet in those parks
Again sending u love
My mother always said u have to work within the system. I have always said no
Yu will find your own path amongst all ppl This u know for sure Your intuition tells u so❤
I think it's great you are 'exploring' the world. Maybe try Europe ??? or ??? Keep asking questions….
You are in Vietnam the right spot to learn vietnamese even the Caucasian can learn and speak easily so can you. Lots of them are on youtube.
Yes…come home
Go back to New York and do what you have always done best over anyone walking tours in NYC it has not been the same since you left then I will re-subscribe to your channel until then you have lost me sorry but this direction is not the Action Kid I know? Please consider of course it is all up to you. I mean it is Christmas time in NYC and I think to myself where is Action Kid I so enjoyed those Christmas tours in Brooklyn etc.
Did you enjoy San Diego when you visited here? I recall a few videos about your trip but forgot how it went. I'd say you'd fit right in with the community. Lots of Asian Americans and people from Asia here.
Maybe you can still do these videos but not focus on yourself but on the road, this way we still hear your personal story but we get a walking tour at the same time
Just be yourself don't change, everything else will take care of it's self.
It is not where it’s how you feel in the place you are. I was borned and raised in PR sometimes other latin countries think we are more americans than latin and americans think we are more latin
🤷🏻♀️
You don’t have a new york accent.
I was watching one of his videos from a few years ago when he was at disneyworld. He was so happy in those videos, joking around and enjoying himself. I miss that Actionkid. He was fun to hang around with.
I am enjoying your talks on being a stranger in a foreign land.💕
Action Kid you have not been replaced in nyc. Come back please. Oh you will get over the different identity problems. I am black. I have a generic northeastern tone. People usually say things like-oh you are not one of them. Dude. Im Black
There's no place like home… NYC will always be yours ❤
Great interpretation Ken, I remember even way back in 1961, I was stationed in Germany, and even though I was a "GI" and expected to act like one to the locals. (who we called "Comrade" a derogatory term from illiterate GI's ) I did pick up on the huge differences in our cultures. the people the way they perceived us and we them. The huge difference in monies. at that time there were 4 marks to the dollar. and everyone had motor bikes for their main transportation. and even then gasoline was almost $ 5 dollars a gallon! when at home it was about 30 cents a gallon! same when I went to Paris. so I know exactly what you go thru fact watching all of you "Asian videos. Vietman. China, Cambodia etc those thoughts ran/run thru my mind thanks for sharing them you keep this old man entertained and give me lot of enjoyment. God Speed. ECF
It's funny, I'm an American (Italian, Spanish, Croatian, & Mexican background), and after living for about 5 years in South Korea and China, and spending more time living for a few months here and there in SE Asia, I feel now that maybe I'm too Asian for the US lol…I just feel the Buddhist and Confucian cultures, the way of life, the food, the temperament of the people, I feel it suits me very well, and when I'm in Asia I feel at home now. When I come back to visit in the US, the culture, the way of life all feels kind of shocking and off kilter to me, and I feel like an alien. When in the US I'm always counting down the days until I can get back to Asia 👍
did kenneth officially move to asia or is here there for a long vacation and going back to nyc ?
I'll be in Malaysia teaching English in January. I was there last year for a month and can't wait to return. This time I'll be heading up to Kuala Lumpur once the winter camp finishes. Will be kicking my walking tour channel Adventure Walk 4K into high gear (daily videos), if anyone is interested in checking out walks from KL and other places throughout SE Asia. Hoping to stay for the full year, and longer if possible. It all depends on if I can get enough hours with online teaching once I finish at the winter camp. Enjoying your content, the walks and these videos exploring being from the US while traveling in Asia 👍
Action Kid you are perfect wherever you go take care and have a wonderful time my friend Thank You.👋🎄
