Great video! Thanks for sharing Jon!
BILT is the best way to pay rent. Planning to use points for next year’s travel!
Great video! Ironically even though it’s known as a wealthy area, the Upper East Side has some more affordable smaller apartments. The UES has bars and restaurants but they are not as hip and trendy than other areas like the East Village and Williamsburg, so that makes it maybe less in demand if you like hitting the hipster cool scene.
Very informative. Elevators are best, because walking up all those stairs can be harder for older people. Cheers, Jon!
👍
Lol at this guy trying to pass off these predatory NYC broker fees as something that is legitimate when they barely exist at any other city in the U.S…
God those dungeon views I don't miss! Nice info.
Knock on the walls of the apartment to check the soundproofing. I live in a place where you can hear your neighbor sneeze and it is hell. Also, double check what management will actually do for smells such as weed. My apartment regularly smells like weed.
lived in a 5th floor walk up for 1 year in midtown when I first moved here. it was quite a hike haha😂
How do you pay rent with Bilt? I pay my landlord via Zelle?
1:04 real😂😂
PIVOT, PIVOT, PIVO, PIVOT
I think he meant 4 times the rent. Not 40.
Or is it 40 times for your yearly salary?
Very interesting video ! Thank You ! Could you also do a "buyers scam video' ?
What an awesome video Jon !
Just signed my lease for my first big girl apartment (upgrading from a studio in deep queens) in the city and definitely asked all the questions before lease signing and got the termination policy in writing. This video is good info for what it is! I will say its still possible to find less expensive units with no fees if you're patient and flexible so don't despair!
Thanks for the tips. I miss visiting but can't afford it 😢
So… you basically need to have the equivalent funds, references, referrals and documents to buy a multi million dollar home for a 100 square foot closet in NYC. What the fuck.
OMG I just moved out of NYC to Virginia and let me tell you it was SOOO much easier to find a place. No broker's fee, no W-2, no guarantor, just a credit check. And I got a huge luxury apartment for less than 2,000 per month
Really enjoyed Joey on this video, Jon. "Buttcheeks" had me ROLLING.
good to know in contrast with renting in Toronto. Expensive and confusing in its own right but NYC is a different story hahaha
Apartments in person only.
Ants are always visitors in nyc from April to Sept, even on the second floor. It's ok.
How to make sure upstairs people don't throw things or stomp.
Go to Queens.
I'd rather have heat than an igloo.
Watch out for leaking pipes, stains on walls, ceilings, etc.
I'd buy new toilet seat. I only forgot once in my recent place.
too many stairs: nono
That rat was too cute. He looks imported.
Get an apartment thru super/landlord or no fee service. Also leases s/b plain and simple or get month to month. And the security deposit s/b invested for you so you get interest when you move out.
Man listen. I lived in NYC my whole life. We have old school apartment buildings with 900+ square feet units available for way under 3K I have a rent stabilized unit 1k sq feet looking over the west side highway, NJ & the sunset. My view alone is $$$$$! Don’t let these brokers beat you over the head. Take your time and look into areas such as Washington heights, Spanish Harlem, east village, Dyckman, Harlem…. And that’s just manhattan. We have soooooo many affordable units in the BX ( near major highways like the cross Bronx, Bronx river & i95.) stop falling for these schemes and find out the real cost of the average of three unit you are tempting to rent before you pay these thieves (brokers ) 1:16
I feel so lucky. My first apartment was bigger than those 2 combined. I only paid 475 a month for 3 years and that was like 20 years ago. Only recently now that I live on the mainland have I paid more than a 1000 bucks. Still the apartment is bigger than those shown. You have to really love NYC to live in a small apartment with a high cost rent. That is without adding almost near impossibility to own a car, having to deal with weird strangers in the subway and thousands of people walking next to you in the sidewalk. Love Manhattan but can’t endure it for more than a week. Great video, thought.
3:48 LOL .
Like as if that's important in year 2024 ,
Like seriously whats a t.v .
Tablet ipad . Smartphone and Laptop ,
Microwave? That's not legally required in NYC sir.
Great info!! I'll take this into deep consideration
Those business cards are hilarious LMAO
saving this when I move into the city spending $8000 a month for a 1 bedroom studio 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
