Hi Gabriel, Catania is an Interesting city, not a tourist destination, but the city has some interesting sights. I thought you were going for the seafood dinner squid calamari or cod baccala many entrees to choose from. I'm sure much of the outside of those buildings are old structures but many of those buildings must have been gutted and rebuilt inside keeping the outside structure maintained. The church structure had incredible marble floors and columns, an absolute museum piece priceless.
Gabe on the Railroad tracks looking for the Beach😂
Another great video Gabriel 😃😎☀️🌊❤
The cafe name translated means The Gunman
The risk of electricity jumping through the air from overhead train wires into a person exists. It is like sitting on an electric chair while vlogging (with selfie stick even worse) or being grilled in the Oval Office💀Pericolo di morte or Danger of death… 34:27 Is this that unique Abbi?🤣
Around 24:00 You asked what language that is. It’s not. 😊
The central triskele motif (three spirals) is an ancient symbol tied to Celtic and Mediterranean art. It represents motion, cycles, or trinity concepts and is frequently used in modern decorative and nautical design.
The banner above the sail features characters that look like runes, but they spell out something like “AFSCIFCAM”, which doesn’t correspond to any known historical language or phrase. It’s crafted to evoke the look and feel of antiquity rather than to convey meaning.
This design likely comes from a charter or tour company—for instance, those offering daytime sailing trips from Catania around the Cyclops’ coast. Many of these companies use imagery drawn from Mediterranean mythology or Viking/Norse aesthetics to add atmosphere, even if it doesn’t make historical sense.
So, no one else is going to mention there are two guys with casts on their arms in this video?! I don’t remember seeing a single cast in thousands of videos and we got two here, what’re the odds?! Did they fight each other?! Oh, as usual, great video, Gabriel!😊
1. The graphic artwork (mural in 24:00) in my opinion describes the Norman conquest of Sicily occurred from 1061 to 1091 from the Muslim Emirate of Sicily.
2. because of point 1 is clearly used a runic alphabet (Normans) and seems to spell "ufocinque"
3. The meaning of "ufocinque" in my opinion is the Artist’s initials (is from North Italy with the same style)
wow
@Gabriel Traveler – Hey Gabriel! It’s cool you’re back in Italy! 🇮🇹 Hey, do you still keep in touch with your Italian friend, Francesca? 🤔😗
If so, will you be meeting up with her again? 🤔
Does anyone know how did graffiti got started and what Country was the first one. thank you for sharing.
💚🧄❤
those 30 or 40 dollar meals crush my soul lol
That's an Alfa Romeo car show meet in the piazza in the background and you didn't show the cars! Darn..
Lovely tour of Catania. Thank you. Really loved the restaurant area with the colourful umbrellas hanging down. Yes it’s a shame about the graffiti but the street art was cool. Can’t not have a gelato there. Food looked delicious too. Have a great trip to Taormina. 😊❤
Thank you so much! And have a nice day!,💖💖💖
Absolutely Amazing Great, Great place 👍👍👍
You're so wonderful and also very diligent travel 👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉
07:39 — Gabriel, of all the cities you have been to, which cities have had the LEAST graffiti, in your opinion?
Is there a winner thus far?
I drove a car from england to a lovely village in the middle of cicily called chianchana back in 1975..was the only car and westerner to have visited..amazing !!
The building looks very classic 👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️
Hi Gabriel. Greek American here. We've been watching your videos for some time now. We currently work and live in Catania area. Nice to see you visit an underrated city (island) full of life and history. Enjoy your time here.
Some of the best mosaics are in Sicily. Monreale cathedral for example. Check them out if you can.👌
Paccheri (pronounced pah-ka-ree) is a large tubular type of pasta, originating from the Campania region of Italy.
Thank you for this absorbing walk in Catania – Authentic Italian City on the Island of Sicily!

You are well educated , well travelled, well cultured human being
Best always in Europe to attend markets first thing in the morning. By 12 noon usually closing.
there is a lot of graffiti everywhere
A real pain to find a Greek beach in Italy.. Better to deal with a different kind of tourism which is great..
someone better be singing,"Bella Ciao" on the streetZ;
I love the graffiti, it gives those derelict walls a human touch.
Hello Gabriel! The Catania tour is interesting and the search for the beach was hilarious. You must go to Vendicari Natural Park to see a good beach. As for the cities I really liked Ragusa Ibla (amazing scene and food), Noto, Scicli, Marsala and Siracusa. Also the beach in San Vito Lo Capo is a nice one. Most of the beaches in Sicily are very dirty imho and I think that the interior of the island is much more beatiful than the coast (and that is why I really prefer Greece, but I sound like a broken record). I can say Isola d'Elba is one the best italian island with Sardinia if you like beaches. I love Teva shoes and I use them all the time, but i must try the socks + sandals option, it seems to be really comfy. Thanks for sharing, I love your videos!
I am from Preveza Greece. My mother studied in Catania Pharmacy. I hope I can visit some day.
In Italy and particularly in Greece, graffiti is not necessary an indication than an area is dangerous the way it is in some parts of the world. It is part of a 2,500 year tradition of free expression. My favorite area of Athens, Psyri, is covered in graffiti- whether you consider it vandalism or street art is often a matter of personal taste.
The city is literally vandalized with graffiti at every turn.
Beautiful
35:48 That is pricey.
Are you in southern or northern Italy? 😄
I love Sicily i am going there in October cant wait.
