China remains unfazed by US tariffs despite ongoing trade war

Amid escalating tensions between the United States and China over trade, Chinese officials have made it clear that they will not back down in the face of tariff threats from the US.

During a news conference, Chinese Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that while China does not want a trade war, they will not fear it if the US continues to escalate the situation. Jian emphasized that China will not stand by and allow the rights and interests of the Chinese people to be taken away.

The recent developments come as US President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs for many trading partners, but simultaneously increased pressure on China. Trump raised the tariff on Chinese imports to 125%, up from the previous 104% level, in retaliation for China imposing an 84% levy on US goods.

The back and forth between the two economic powerhouses has raised concerns about the potential impact on global trade and the economy. Both China and the US have been engaging in tit-for-tat measures, with neither side willing to back down.

As the trade war continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how both countries will navigate the situation and reach a resolution that is satisfactory for all parties involved.
