Ingredients for a 20–24 cm Pan

For the Crust:

  • Butter — 110 g (melted & cooled)
  • Sugar — 120 g (a mix of white and brown is delightful)
  • Eggs (large) — 2
  • Vanilla sugar — 10 g
  • All-purpose flour — 240 g
  • Baking powder — 8 g
  • Baking soda — 1/4 tsp
  • Salt — a pinch
  • Yogurt or kefir — 150 ml (room temperature)

For the Apple Filling:

  • Apples — 5–6 (small)
  • Sugar — 20 g
  • Ground cinnamon — 4 g
  • Lemon juice — 1 tbsp

For the Swirl Topping:

  • Brown sugar — 60 g
  • Ground cinnamon — 5 g

Directions

1. Prep the Apples 🍏

Start by peeling and slicing the apples into cubes or wedges. Drizzle them with lemon juice to maintain their bright color and mix in sugar and cinnamon. If your apples are particularly firm, you might want to bake them for about 10 minutes to soften them while you prepare the batter.
