Discover Yufuin Onsen: Japan’s Hidden Gem
In the heart of Kyushu lies Yufuin Onsen, a captivating hot spring town that offers a blend of serene landscapes and unique cultural experiences. Often overshadowed by its more famous counterparts, Yufuin beckons travelers seeking a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
A Day in Yufuin
During the day, Yufuin flourishes with vibrant activity. Its charming streets are lined with quaint shops, artisanal boutiques, and savory eateries offering local delicacies. Guests can explore the picturesque Euphin Floral Village, inspired by England’s Cotswolds, with its delightful stone cottages and lush greenery.
Visitors are encouraged to immerse themselves in the local onsen culture. The area boasts numerous hot spring facilities, each with its own unique offerings. A soak in the mineral-rich waters is more than just relaxation; it’s an intimate encounter with traditional Japanese wellness.
A Quiet Evening
However, as twilight descends, Yufuin transforms. The lively pedestrian streets that buzz with tourists during the day tend to become eerily quiet at night. Many shops and restaurants close by sunset, leaving the town with a peaceful aura that can feel almost surreal to newcomers.
For night owls, this presents a challenge, as dining options dwindle after 7:30 PM. Travelers must plan ahead to ensure they have a place to eat, as spontaneous dinner plans may lead to disappointment. Despite this, the stillness of the night allows for stargazing and enjoying the natural beauty of surrounding mountains, truly offering a chance to recharge.
The Experience Awaits
Yufuin is not just a destination; it’s an experience waiting to be discovered. Perfect for those who appreciate both daytime activities and evening serenity, it offers an authentic glimpse into Japan’s hot spring culture without the typical tourist frenzy.

Amazing Japan,Amazing video

Looks like a nice place, but not sure you've visited enough of Japan to be able to say it's one of the nicest places in all of Japan.
5:00 nah thats not dead. Someone drove past. Dead is when you're in the middle of the woods and a predator is stalking you
I found that most places in Japan which are popular with tourists will have really good tourist information offices. The staff are amazingly helpful.
Since you’re in Kyushu, you should consider a trip to the porcelain producing town of Arita. Or stare into the volcano at mount Aso.
Gabriel, tonight after dark would be the best time to set that sweet squirrel free. Do it for the animals. Thank you.
Is there homeless and hungry people there?
That’s a lot of people.
Gabe, Peeping is only a Crime if your name is Tom… So you're good 🙂
A lot of people lived to stare at you without greetings, maybe they are tourists too, maybe they only greet the LOCALS 😏🤣😂
when are you guna find a girlfriend gabriel?
It must be a town that’s mainly for day trippers
✌🍻
Japan is very beautiful. Thanks for showing it.
I feel like you know the answer and that question was for engagement but for anyone wondering they were indeed a male and female duck.
12:35 it’s a pack of healthy rice. Thirteen different types of rice grains together. Can cook it in a rice cooker.
You were like Charleston Heston in the Omega man 😂😂😂
19:12 Mitarashi Dango is rice cake balls, with a sauce on them. The sauce is made from soy sauce and sugar. Very yummy 😋
20:25 those are takoyaki- which are octopus cooked inside a batter and topped with sauce, this place also offered different kinds of topping choices
Gabe, in small resort towns restaurants don't stay open because people at ryokans have breakfast and dinner included in their package.
28:20 The place was so dead, I could hear your foot-steps until the restaurant. Great town though.
People tend to eat in their ryokan (guest house) in the evening. We did in Yufuin.

Beyond the entrance is a mixed-gender open-air bath.

Hi Gabriel, This town area is very sprawled out and concentrated where you're located is a very interesting place. I noticed the thermostat on the wall as you walked in; it's a digital thermostat in the other video. Anywhere in Japan is a lovely place to visit. The bigger cities are more crowded, but there's much to see and do, and everything is very organized and well-maintained.
Another recommendation in that area: Kumamoto has a huge and pretty amazing castle. It’s been restored, like most Japanese castles, but is definitely worth it if you are in the area.
Wow! Wonderful autumn color with all those maple trees! Amazing views! If you can't go to the Cotswold you can visit Yufuin! It's so fun the way they build alias towns. I wonder, why are so many people in the video wearing face mask? I mean, here in Italy where I live nobody wear a mask… Thanks for sharing.
Very popular spot for Koreans.
Another awesome video, don't forget to like it and comment people !
Fall foliage is beautiful
I’m looking at staying in Kurashiki for two nights. My concern is the town will be completely empty after 6pm
Hard to say Yufuin is a place you never heard of. It's a very popular onsen town. Maybe for people who never visited Japan.
