Dozens of Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school in the Gaza Strip, a tragedy that has once again highlighted the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The strike, which Palestinians say targeted displaced civilians, resulted in the deaths of at least 25 people, including families living in tents outside the UN-run school in the town of Abassan near Khan Younis.
Israel has stated that it is investigating the incident, as it continues to target Hamas militants who have been regrouping in Gaza. This latest attack comes amidst a surge in violence that has claimed the lives of thousands since the war began following Hamas’ terror attacks on October 7th.
To provide further insight into the situation, we speak with journalist Karim El-Gawhary, who joins us from Cairo, Egypt. We also hear from our correspondent in Jerusalem, Tania Krämer.
The airstrike on the school is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of the conflict in the region and the urgent need for a ceasefire to prevent further loss of life. The international community must work towards a peaceful resolution to end the cycle of violence and ensure the safety and well-being of all those living in the Gaza Strip.
