Global National: Nov. 13, 2025 – Mixed Reactions to Carney’s New Major Projects Announcement
In a bold move that aims to redefine Canada’s energy landscape, Prime Minister Carney has unveiled a new list of major projects designed to bolster national strength, enhance self-sufficiency, and elevate Canada’s status as a clean energy superpower. The six projects, which include a mixture of hydroelectric initiatives and critical mineral developments, have elicited a mosaic of reactions from the Canadian public and stakeholders alike.
Among the most notable projects is an Inuit-owned hydroelectric facility in Nunavut, which not only promises to enhance energy independence in the region but also emphasizes Indigenous ownership and involvement in the renewable sector. This project is expected to generate significant local employment opportunities and foster sustainable energy practices. Complementing this initiative, three critical mineral mines slated for New Brunswick, Quebec, and Ontario are set to position Canada as a key player in the global market for clean technologies. These mines will be essential for producing the minerals needed to manufacture everything from electric vehicle batteries to renewable energy components.
However, not all responses have been favorable. Concerns have been raised regarding the environmental implications of the liquefied natural gas facility proposed for northern British Columbia. Critics argue that despite advancements in technology, the extraction and processing of natural gas can still have detrimental effects on local ecosystems. Furthermore, debates are ongoing regarding the North Coast Transmission Line, which aims to connect a conservation corridor in British Columbia and Yukon. While some view this as a critical step towards integrating renewable energy sources, others fear it may compromise large swaths of untouched wilderness.
As Canada grapples with the consequences of climate change and seeks to transition towards a greener future, the mixed reactions to Carney’s announcement highlight the complexities of energy projects in a diverse and often divided nation. Supporters emphasize the need for Canada to have a robust energy strategy, especially as global demand for clean energy grows. Meanwhile, opponents caution that a well-balanced approach is necessary to protect both the environment and Indigenous rights.
In another significant segment of the national news, the head of Canada’s Security Intelligence Service delivered an unusually public address to outline the multifaceted threats confronting the nation, drawing parallels with allies in the U.K. and Australia. This marks a notable shift towards transparency in the intelligence community amid rising concerns about national security.
Meanwhile, the fallout from the recent release of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein continues to put pressure on the White House, with President Donald Trump featured in some of the communications. This revelation has sparked outrage among various political factions, leaving many to question the implications for the upcoming electoral landscape.
In a poignant conclusion to today’s broadcast, more than 80 years after her tragic death, the remains of Alma Beaulieu, a young girl who perished at a residential school in the Northwest Territories, have been returned to her hometown. Her story, and those of others like her, underscores the painful legacy of Canada’s residential school system and the ongoing journey towards healing and reconciliation.
As these narratives unfold, they reflect the broader complexities of Canadian society, grappling with its past while striving to build a more equitable and sustainable future.

I love you Michael
I do love my Canada although I'm dual citizen.
That would be so embarrassing to get pics with carney
So NO NEW PROJECTS. These are already in place. What a Conman Liar.
How the heck is Fracking in BC considered clean energy? Wouldn't that hurt them since they had a drought this summer? This pipeline project happened in Australia too and it went badly. Same company too. Supposedly owned and operated by the states. That LNG thing is very bad news for the environment and indigenous land.
Hava good night Canada 🇨🇦 😴 💙 ✨️!!!
We're the BEST! ALWAYS WILL BE!!
SIMPLY THE BEST!, BETTER THAN ALL THE REST ????
CANADA 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 SIMPLY THE BEST !!!
Broken diplomacy and an industrial revolution……. I just can't even begin to describe the disappointment of this Gen Z student of Political Science/International Relations.
Canada sells almost all of its oil to the U.S., and at a discount. Canada has the 3rd largest oil reserves in the world, behind KSA and Venezuela. Would not an energy powerhouse sell more of this huge gift of the land to all parts of the world? How is continuing to sell all of its oil to the U.S. being independent of them? Mr Carney assumes Cdn are stupid.
My guess would be he has not received permission from the WH to sell this vital, strategic asset of the U.S. to other countries. You know, they might need it when they start their war with Iran when Middle East oil will be toast. After all, we are the 51st state. Why else can't we build oil pipelines? We created a Cdn oil industry in the 50s and 60s when the country was not as rich as it is today. Now we can't even build a single oil pipeline? Come on.
Cdn water is the first strategic asset. 2nd is oil. Venezuela is a sign a war with Iran is not too far away. With Canada and Venezuela in their pocket, energy security is secured for the U.S. If Canada tries to say no to water or oil to the U.S., we will also get the Venezuela treatment. In Canada's case, there is really drugs going south. Border, what border?
IT'S ABOUT TIME: CANADA DOES NOT NEED ANY COUNTRY TO SUPPORT IT; WE NEED JOBS; NOT INFLUX OF IMMIGRANT INVESTORS, WHO DO NOT PAY LAND TAXES, HIDE THEIR MONEY IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY EVEN THOUGH THEY DON'T INVEST IN CANADA.
DO CANADIANS WANT JOBS? Stop the illicit drugs imports from Canada to New Zealand.
He copies Trump. Build, build, build is a rip off off drill baby drill. He sits down like Trump and signs these "deals." Have you ever seen a PM do that before? The difference is that Trump's deals are real and Carney's are publicity stunts.
Just in …. guess who holds shares in both companies in the LNG project MR Carney. Nothing like filling your own pockets eh.
"Major projects list" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Where are the liberals in the comments defending this?
Carney is a master at taking credit for other people's work.
Head down cheeks open
Didn't vote for him for this reason he has done nothing so far but fly around the world and achieve little for it.
Nothing here to see. Just more debt without improvement to the economy. Consensus Con Carney Gaslighting his Liberal base.
What power? All these projects are for his own Brookfield benefits! His stocks are going up as he announces! The guy is a crook!
A trifling loan to a multi-billion-dollar provincial crown corporation, and a hydro project for 5000 people? Comical.
