Mark Carney’s 2025 Federal Budget: A New Economic Vision for Canada
Prime Minister Mark Carney’s inaugural federal budget, unveiled on November 4, 2025, marks a significant moment in Canada’s economic trajectory. As the country grapples with post-pandemic recovery and a rapidly changing global landscape, Carney’s financial roadmap outlines key investments aimed at housing, infrastructure, defense, and tax relief for Canadians.
In a detailed analysis, Global National’s David Akin breaks down the budget’s allocations, highlighting substantial earmarks for housing initiatives aimed at alleviating the ongoing affordability crisis. With rising costs placing immense pressure on families, the government’s commitment to improving access to affordable housing is a pivotal element of Carney’s plan. Additionally, investments in infrastructure are set to bolster job creation and enhance the nation’s economic resilience as Canada seeks to modernize its transport and energy networks.
The budget also addresses a controversial aspect: proposed reductions in the civil service. This decision is poised to provoke debate not only within the government but also among opposition parties, who may see it as a signal of austerity amidst ongoing recovery efforts. Akin also notes areas where the budget maintains the status quo, raising questions about whether these conservative choices may strain relations with opposing factions in Parliament.
Dawna Friesen engages with Finance and Revenue Minister François-Philippe Champagne to discuss financial relief strategies embedded within the budget. Champagne articulates the government’s belief that its spending plans, although seen by some as ambitious, are necessary to stimulate growth and ensure a robust recovery. Interestingly, the inclusion of public funding for the Eurovision contest has sparked curiosity and debate, with some questioning its relevance in a budget focused on pressing domestic needs.
As Canadians look towards the future, Carney’s budget reflects a blend of bold initiatives and measured approaches in response to long-standing challenges. The stakes are high as the government aims to revive the economy while navigating political currents that could affect the plan’s implementation. The coming months will prove critical in determining whether this blueprint for the future will rally support or face substantial opposition.
Overall, Prime Minister Mark Carney’s first federal budget is not just a financial document; it signals a broader vision for Canada as it prepares to tackle both immediate economic hurdles and long-term policy goals.

How about breaking up the telecoms industry and all the other competition hindering oligopolies if they care so much about making our economy so "competitive"?
0:54 big fan
Stop immigration – Canada can't afford it.
we are cooked thats what.
Why do we have men wearing turbans in our government? Makes you wonder where their loyalty lies. Religion shouldn't mix with government. I don't agree with that.
The entire budget does absolutely nothing for struggling Canadians right now.
Furthermore there's not one dollar in it for low income seniors or the disabled. These Liberal elites are totally out of touch with our reality and live in their own. I would never consider voting for Carney. Nor will any other boomer I know!
Put it where the sun doesn t shine carney did you put the 75 million stupid publicity that you and ford send to trump on that budget ?? Seriously guet out..
Ha ha, now I can get TWO large yachts!

Look at these clowns work! The more they spend the more prices of everything goes up! We pay the same prices for food as Jamaica! Just ridiculous!
Nothing
To answer the headline. The death of our country
Another Federal election.
We have to get variety of resources. I mean we shouldn’t export our gas to USA. Instead, We can export to Europe. Import food and Cars from Europe. Fight the USA tariffs. Increase, the private business in car and housing. Decrease the mortgage and 0 interest in European cars.and Japan. and increase it on USA . I want to drink coffee again. I can’t buy coffee.
There is nothing in this budget but get rich schemes for Liberal government companies.and the rest of us left to pay off the Debt you and I the backbone of this country the citizens of Canada the Taxpayers.
Bloody scammers.
Global tried hard to slander a good man, Dick Cheney. He may have made mistakes in life's journey but he was a good, godly man. Now he is in heaven and has his reward.
"To be honest with you"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 as if Chump has ever been honest.
All I see in the comment section is a bunch of people who have no idea how economic policies work. The two largest economies in the world (USA and China) have been in debt for more 40 years, US even more. The thing is, the money needs to be spent in developing the country, ESPECIALLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE INDUSTRY. Wake up Canada, you need industry, technological development, that's what boosts and economy, increases purchasing power, creates more jobs and VALUES the currency. By industry I mean R&D in Canada, not assembly/manufacturing lines.
If this plan actually goes ahead and the money starts showing up in tech companies/startups, that'll make Canada a competitor in about 10 years, easily. Else, it'll just the oil/gas seller taking prices from the commodities it sells and getting hardly hit by inflation.
This is money laundering at its finest. I bet the Brookfield contracts are already printed up and ready to go…. BANKERS GET RICH USING OTHERS PEOPLES MONEY!
Why is my tax money “building homes” ? Thats a private sector operation
Also “defence” from what ?
Sounds goofy
Marxist Carney will destroy Canada forever 🇨🇦 💀
They better stop immigration!!!
Housing should have been first on his agenda???
Where if you already have a 🏠 Housing problem?, wouldn't added immigrants worsen the already problem of rent and housing????
Nothing against immigrants, but more people means less supply and rent increases.
WHEN THE BOTTLE IS 🍼?,FULL IT CAN'T TAKE NO MORE !!!
Here's hoping these major projects create more new jobs
Conservatives got a lot of what they wanted in the budget
Tax Cut for businesses
immigration cuts
Cuts to Cap on Oil & Gas
But because it's not their party, they won't vote
Forget about investing in building homes. Get rid of Airbnb(or tax owners greatly), which has taken hundreds of thousands of homes out of the market and driven prices for both purchasing and renting through the roof.
No support…so…another election coming.
I'm 100 percent behind PM Carney's plan to strengthen and reestablish Canada's independence, grow jobs, and get Canada's armed forces the tools they need to respond to any threat to our sovereignty!
We've been far too tied to the US for too long and it has weakened our markets and our security. Polievre is happy to kiss Trump's ring and hand us over.
Watch as Global tries to polish a turd — which we all knew they would.
printing billions of dollars out of thin air…what could go wrong?😂
It was costing more to administer than the revenue…what were you saying about efficiency and productivity? How about you raise the tax?
How much for making some new big jails.
.??????
I think it's time for another election 🤔
The system is getting very ill, so unhealthy…. How would the math work out, when the working class got $0.50-1/hr increase, everything else has gone up before the increased wages get to the workers’ paychecks 😢
Can’t the government freeze the costs for food/transportation/rent/telecommunications when the wage increases cannot sustain the current high costs of living? How about vouchers for people
Show your true love for the country: MPs, govt officials, executives lead by example by doing a hair-cut of your salaries and bonuses? Millionaires to pay more taxes?
We will always remember Liberals bankrupt all Canadians 2025-2026 people lose all benefit and pension. Bravo.
They built Carney house a but how can you buy a house if you unemployed no jobs?
Budget will never pass
Honest questions to conservative viewers: what in the budget would you have done differently, to combat tariff style economics, promote independence from USA, and spur GDP growth? And please don't start with "no immigration" because that sentiment has no literal monetary quantification (and they already are reducing immigration). "Reduce debt" is also useless commentary, provide tangible solutions with quantifiable monetary values. Id like to hear your ideas.
Canadians have destroyed their own country by electing the liberal/NDP for 10 years. These politicians stunted our growth and in some cases destroyed our industries so that we are in a weak negotiating position with the US. If we had built pipelines to both coasts and developed mines, particularly for rare earth elements, we could have entered into negotiations with Trump in a strong position. Trump does not respect a cap-in-hand approach. He finds it to be weak and not worthy of consideration.
WHY IS CANADIAN NEWS HONOURING DICK CHENEY,,,,
Canada fort.
More like Canada fart.
Bring on the Christmas election.Let's get this over with
Why does the government think a house is an investment? It's a necessity to live.
If 7/10 of your money goes into you house, then that's not money going into the economy else where.
If 3/10 goes into a house and people can spend more money on day to day stuff, material, stocks and companies. Then the more generates more jobs in the economy and allows people to grow and also will in the long term make more money for the government.
