Hezbollah claims to have launched more than 200 rockets at Israel

Hezbollah sources have confirmed to Al Jazeera that they have launched over 200 rockets and explosive drones from southern Lebanon towards Israeli military positions. This escalation marks the second day of rocket attacks, resulting in multiple fires in the occupied Golan Heights and Galilee region.

The attacks come in retaliation for the killing of a senior Hezbollah Commander in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, where a vehicle was targeted in the city of Tyre. Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has stated that Israel is striking targets in southern Lebanon in response to the rocket attacks.

Al Jazeera’s reporters Assed Baig in Marjayoun and Zeina Khodr in Beirut are on the ground to provide the latest updates on the situation. Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have been escalating, with the latter demonstrating its capability to hit Israeli targets on a daily basis.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah underscores the volatile security situation in the region, with both sides engaged in a cycle of violence that threatens to further destabilize the Middle East.
