Synopsis for “I Broke My New iPhone 17 Pro Max. How I Fixed It With AppleCare | One More Thing”
In this episode of “One More Thing,” the host shares their shocking experience of dropping their brand new iPhone 17 Pro Max on the street, resulting in a cracked screen and damaged aluminum frame. With AppleCare as a safety net, they delve into the repair process at the iconic Fifth Avenue Apple Store, revealing insights about the coverage and repair options. Although the initial appointment didn’t go as planned due to part unavailability, a later visit to another Apple Store conveniently resolved the issue the same day for just $29—a stark contrast to the potential $379 repair cost without AppleCare.
Throughout the video, viewers learn about the significance of timely AppleCare enrollment, the importance of backing up data before repairs, and the various coverage options available for multiple devices. The host reflects on the fragility of the new device compared to previous models and shares valuable tips for navigating AppleCare, including how to secure coverage even beyond the 60-day signup window. As the episode wraps, the host considers switching to a sturdier phone case, prompting viewers to share their own experiences with phone protection. Join them for a candid discussion on tech mishaps and the paths to recovery.

Is AppleCare going back into the Disney Vault??????
It's basically insurance fraud.
And apple does let you do that.
what a shill of a paid advert… gross…
AppleCare One is about the same price as buying AppleCare for two devices, a great deal if you have three devices for the price of two
The fact Bridget was not in a Halloween costume for this video is immensely disappointing. Where's your spirit, CNET?
Ageless and beautiful as always! ❤
This is good information to know! I've never had to use AppleCare, but I have AppleCare One now on my iPhone, Apple Watch; and AirPods since I upgraded all three this year! One charge and I think the AirPods stay covered past the 2 year period they were capped at. I'm not 100% sure, though.
Thanks. My best friend just broke her screen on her new iPhone (just days old) and has no idea how it happened. Your info is great! I am forwarding your video to her. Have a great day!
This is a commercial for apple care, and it's pretty gross.
I pay for it here but we don’t have Apple stores. I wonder how it works
I wish people would support independent repair instead.
Well, not the most durable thing in the world.
Personally I have apple care for my 17 pro max as well as the otter box defender xt series . Last but not least the belkin screen protector. Yes it’s a bit much but as much as these phones cost these days I rather be safe than sorry.
Never brought Apple Care for a phone before, I always put on a screen protector right out the box and a case but these phones have become so expensive that I’m probably going to buy Apple Care for my next phone just for the theft protection
The phones been out for a month and half now., so course they're not going to ask when you bought the phone. It's obviously recent and within the Apple care purchase window. LOL Secondly, wtf.. Anyone else skeptical about how the crack on the screen isn't even where the point of impact of the aluminium chip is. Yet, POI, is on totally opposite side top right corner with no damage to the frame ? Thirdly, there's damage to the bottom right corner of the phone as well, and no damage to the case in the same spot when it's shown on the table. Case was damaged post fall, has not been using this case on the phone the whole time to have damage at the bottom right corner , and no damage to the case in that area at all ! I CALL BULLLLLLSSSSSSSHHHHHEEEEEEEETTTTT!!!!!! 😂This was just made for marketing and sponsorship of Apple care and iPhone case manufacturers. lol
keep apple care and get the case you like or let your apple be naked lol
Using Torras Air case with my i17PM, dropped once from between waist and chest height, not a scratch. Amazing case. Tough and looks good too.
This reviewers are really becoming irritating.
IPhone 11-17 had a aluminium frame. Zero and I mean zero concerns, complaints, example of here and there
Now that 17 Pro has it. Ooooooooooh what a disaster. This material is a mess. How did they allow it to be on an iPhone.
Lord have mercy. May the common person notice are stupid reviewers really are.
The very first time I took my shiny new iPhone out of the box whilst sitting in the car, it slipped off my lap and dropped to the ground… 😬 lesson learned. Only unpack the phone at home in a carpeted room!
screen protector also broke? what brand? and what brand is the case?
Got into a road accident on my bike and my s24 ultra flew off my mount and landed face first on top of a drain. Even with the s pen dislodged, no scratches on the screen. Invest in a high quality case
I recommend you get a spiegen ring magnetic it’s sooo much easier to handle the phone, plus you get a stand. 😊
Shame on the aluminium dent, They should replace your iPhone with a replacement phone.
I broke my iPad and was able to add AppleCare to it 2 years later and get it replaced for $50
Case free is what I do. And if you have 3 products. Then go with Apple care plus
There is one more suggestion on choosing a case. I would recommend the case is a little bit above the screen. The gel cases have been good.
Screen protectors caused me to use more money. Screen protector got oily and your finger liquids melted on it. The edge of the protector started to release from the side.
I had a curved screen with a glass screen protector. The case stopped at the screen kevel. Was a battery case. What happened was, I dropped it on the corner of the phone. Screen protector failed to protect the screen. It was on cement. Both broke. Not shattered, but to the point you'll be cut.
At long as the inside of the screen protector has a soft layer and the edges are not hard. Your phone should survive all most all drops.
I have been case free when I had my 16 pro max and now 17 pro max and I have not once dropped it! I just love the feel of a caseless phone especially iPhones. I always get comments at work of people saying that I'm crazy for getting the new iPhone and not having a case on it lol. But just in case anything goes wrong or if I just jinxed myself by writing this, I do have apple care
I prefer to be careless and am currently with an iPhone 16 Pro Max. It does have AppleCare (which I get on most mobile Apple devices like phones and laptops), screen protector, and a DBrand leather skin on the back.
There's absolutely no excuse for not having a screen protector installed on your phone. Application is so easy these days, a child can do it! And why purchase that worthless Apple case when there are so many better options available? 🙄🙄
Apple is so sneaky to not promote how to backup your iPhone to your computer or to an external hard drive. I find it silly to buy an iPhone with large storage space and also pay for iCloud backup with large storage space.
so one screen repair, without apple care would cover 27 months of Apple care. If you have to have a full device replacement and it is $799 (pro max cost) you could have had apple care on every single phone you upgraded to for 57 months.
stop looking for ways to scam apple care and just get it. you guys will fork out $1500 for a device that you use 300 times per day, but are too damn cheap to throw a little at protecting the device. it's pretty scummy to just look for ways to beat the system to save a few bucks.
Pretty sure theyll deny if you damage before signing up lol
Get an OtterBox Fre case: total protection with screen cover built in.
Bridget miss your pink theme
Someone's getting paid a big cheque 😂
Apple sponsored video to give them more $$ for AppleCare.
CNET has turned into free Apple/Sammy advertisements.
Maybe buy a more durable phone next time.
I always get AC but we don’t have AC One in the UK yet, but AC is 100% worth it, just look how much you save IF something goes wrong
No case?
And here I am… in Belgium… with NO APPLECARE.. HOW?
