Is Iran’s Ceasefire with Israel on Shaky Ground?
In the complex geopolitical landscape of the Middle East, the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel has emerged as a focal point of international attention. As tensions escalate, questions arise regarding the durability of this fragile agreement. Al Jazeera’s Hashem Ahelbarra provides an in-depth analysis amidst unfolding events, reporting directly from The Hague.
The ceasefire, a significant development in the historically adversarial relationship between the two nations, appears precarious. With the backdrop of Donald Trump’s ongoing participation in NATO discussions, the dynamics of global alliances complicate the situation further. Notably, Trump recently highlighted NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s optimistic assessment of a successful negotiation process, indicating a rewarding shift for the alliance.
As Rutte noted, securing consensus on financial commitments from European nations—“five percent” being a crucial point—marks a pivotal moment for transatlantic relations. This victory symbolizes not only a win for Trump but also exemplifies the shifting power dynamics that can influence Middle Eastern politics, including the Iran-Israel conflict.
The implications of this ceasefire extend beyond borders. Israel has historically viewed Iran as a significant threat, and any pause in hostilities could be fleeting if the underlying issues remain unaddressed. With voices on both sides still advocating for military preparedness, the tenuous peace hangs in a delicate balance.
As international observers look to leaders like Trump and Rutte, the potential for diplomatic resolutions appears promising yet fraught with challenges. The ongoing negotiations reveal the complexities of aligning national interests while ensuring regional stability. For now, the world watches closely as developments unfold, pondering whether this ceasefire is truly a stepping stone to lasting peace or merely a temporary reprieve in a long-standing conflict.

Iran 🇮🇷
🇪🇺🇺🇦🇮🇱🇺🇸💪
Europe is always concerned by doing nothing
Not shaky. Iran will need time to rebuild their defensive arsenal.
There is Iran and Israel in the MiddleEast, what the other countries are doing beside eating and drinking? 😂
Photo ia wrong.
Izrail has always broken every ceasefire plus Netanyahoo can't afford for it to end as it will be jail time. Viva Iran
The US and Israel are rogue states that use deception and coercion through military aggression and economic warfare. Both nations ignore international law and treaties. As such, it is not in the interest of other nations to negotiate in good faith with either the US or Israel. Everything else is political theatre and propaganda
It's understandable that Iran is unhappy.
Israel has caused the closure of airspace in the Middle East. To be clear: The Middle East has closed its airspace to accommodate the Israeli/Iran war. How will the stockmarket respond to the indefinite closure of the Middle East airspaces?
iran is delusional that they will win against israel.. we all want peace and it should start from them..
We love
Respects
Believe to peaceful world.
We detest to over excited crimes
How can anyone call it a ceasefire when they are still shooting missiles at one another? Am I missing something?
You were told. For Israel has spoken.
There was never a ceasefire, stop believing Trump
The West is really mad. Why will you be the one to decide which weapons a country produces or not? Are you the what?
What about Gaza
Iran will always have the right to defend itself against isr-ahel and the US … stop the genocide in gaza
Israel Play is a big game nobody really understands Iran and israel wars is a fake actually they are hiding Gaza genocide 😐
Puppytollah can breathe a sigh of relief in his bunker. He gets to hide away in safety another day
Everyone wants peace except israel
Israel and its slave US are hugely damaged politically, economically and socially around the world. It will not be easy for them to have businesses and companies in the region and beyond in the Global South. The AIPAC people are exposed all over the world and it will not be easy for them to play around as they have been for decades and centuries. It is a global understanding and unity going on to deal with them.
That means they want to tell Russia to stop funding weapons to Iran that main intention to Nato I hope Iran will reject that ceasefire if the intention it's like that
may god help israel amen 😢
all Muslim country help iran give money.
Staunch support from North Korea, China, Pakistan, Russia elevates the prospect that Iran will stand on solid ground for some time. These are interesting times moving forward.
Iran should not agree to any international pressure. And Israel have to disarm themselves from nuclear Arsenal.
free persia from muslim occupation.
Which State has a history of violating ceasefires?…."It's all about Iran" Really????
Al Jazeera stop deleting my post towards Iran what are you guys doing aren't you fair and balanced
Long live Iran❤
The real and true haloscout has been happening in Palestine for the past 78 years in front of the world. Look at Gaza what has been going on there since October 2023 and before.
Why all about Iran, how about Israel.
Thank you Iran 🇮🇷 ❤
Israel 🇮🇱 started this so therefore its Israel 🇮🇱 needs to stop. Its that simple
Why should they stop their ballistic program so that next time they cannot fight back. These are unrealistic demands and this will not happen
criminal's face
According to Alex Christoforou, Israel had no choice but pushed for a ceasefire due to domestic political pressures—and because they were starting to running out of missiles. They are scared. It’s as simple as that. Not Trump.
iran will stick to their part but israel will not
Trump must back off and stay out of whats none of their business
Tru was Netanyahu puppet i think he realised it
Casualties and Damage:
Iran: Reports indicate 610–722 deaths (including 200 military personnel) and 3,000–4,746 injuries, with significant civilian impact and damage to infrastructure (e.g., nuclear sites, oil facilities, Evin prison).
Israel: Approximately 24–28 deaths and over 1,000 injuries, with damage to cities like Herzliya, Beersheba, and Tel Aviv. Iran's missile strikes penetrated Israeli air defenses, a notable first.
Interesting thumbnail. Everyone is giggling except Zelensky.
NATO's a war criminals gatherings
Israel is going go back to rearm its self in a better way learning from the war itself. What worked and what needs to be improved upon. And Iran will be dealing with a revolution in its country. So no to your question, if the ceasefire is on shaky ground 🧐
