Jeff Mauro’s Authentic Chicago-Style Stuffed Deep-Dish Pizza 🍕
Get ready to dive into the heart of Chicago with this irresistible recipe for Jeff Mauro’s Authentic Chicago-Style Stuffed Deep-Dish Pizza! This indulgent dish takes deep-dish pizza to exhilarating new heights with an extra layer of gooey cheese nestled between two layers of perfectly crafted dough. If you thought you loved deep-dish pizza before, wait until you try this version topped with a simple, no-cook tomato sauce that really lets those bold flavors shine.
The Perfect Dough
To start, we’ll craft a deliciously buttery and flaky dough that encapsulates all the goodness inside. Combining instant dry yeast, sugar, and all-purpose flour, we create a dough that rises beautifully and holds in the layers of cheesy goodness.
Rich, Flavorful Sauce
For the sauce, skip complex cooking processes and focus on fresh flavors. With a base of canned ground tomatoes and a touch of tomato paste, seasoned with kosher salt, dried basil, oregano, and garlic, this sauce is as easy to whip up as it is to savor.
Layering Deliciousness
Assembling your masterpiece is where the fun begins! You’ll first roll out a generous portion of dough to form the crust. This will create a sturdy base to support all your favorite toppings, including pepperoni, shredded mozzarella, and a zing of giardiniera for that extra kick.
Sealing the Deal
Once your toppings are layered in, roll out your second portion of dough and top off the pizza. Pinch the edges to seal everything in and create a beautiful rustic appearance. The final touch is pouring that vibrant tomato sauce on top, ready for baking.
Baking to Perfection
Pop your deep-dish pizza in a preheated oven and let it bake until golden and bubbling. After a brief resting period, cut into this towering delight and prepare for cheesy bliss that oozes with every slice!
Perfect for Gathering
This recipe yields 6 to 8 servings, making it the perfect dish for gatherings, family dinners, or cozy nights in. Pair it with a fresh salad or classic garlic bread for a well-rounded meal sure to impress!
Your Cooking Adventure Awaits
With a total time of about 11 hours and 40 minutes—mostly for rising and resting—you’ll find that the steps involved only require about 40 minutes of active prep time. This Chicago-style stuffed deep-dish pizza is truly a labor of love, but the rewards are more than worth the effort!
So grab your apron and get ready to create a masterpiece that not only fills your stomach but also warms your heart. Embrace the culinary adventure and let the flavors of Chicago transport you right to the heart of the city!

Hi Jeff well gimme some😂❤ 🍕 looks delish🥰😋 Chicago deep dish pizza !
So simple to make my grandkids and I are gonna make this.
my Ginos East recipe calls for 1 WHOLE stick of butter and 4 TBS sugar in the dough!!!!
and the pan gets sprinkled with cornmeal BEFORE pressing in the dough. pressing because it REALLY is more a cookie dough feel than bready.
the bottom layer IS CHEESE. THICK layers.
THEN the sausage…all patted out to the sides. an entire layer.
then, at my house, the spinach
then the sauce…or the gravy! all mixed with onion, peppers and mushroom, etc.
OMG..and where are the seeds!!!!!
i make the Ginos East deep dish for parties and such.
i remember my brother, who has since died, texting me when I was in an ER because they thought I had a stroke…
"Paul…I hear you are having an emergency. PLEASE WRITE DOWN YOUR PIZZA RECIPE QUICKLY"!!!!!
🤤🤤🤤
Howdy
Not gonna lie. Not a fan of this show. It comes across way too much like an infomercial with the ultra phony sounding guests who are blown away by mundane things.
We made one of these back in the 80’s. Recipe was the paper. It was delicious! My step father made the best pizza crust!!!!
When your from Chicago you started making pizzas as soon as you could reach the counter
Looks delicious… I would like some of Jeff's Honey G Pepper Relish loaded on top
Jeff and Katie should be ousted.
