Remember that everything in the handmaids tale has already happened to someone, they probably just weren’t white. And if they were, they weren’t American. Your dystopia is almost always someone else’s reality.
What a delightful piece
Scorpio, reads palms, researches history extensively, writes incredible novels, award winner, fighter for books….impressive woman. Love her!
Cheers to more than a tea reader!
I can get the banned book exactly everywhere for $10. That must suck for her
I love her books!
Atwood is such a funny lady. I love her quick wit and sarcasm.
Ironic that 60 Minutes is interviewing her about our descent into authoritarianism when how CBS News has been destroyed by oligarchs (and 60 Minutes a shell of its former self) is itself a shining example of the undermining of the media being part of this descent.
All of that said, Margaret Atwood was spot on decades ago and we should heed her words.
I love Canada!
She’s correct.
What a gem!!!
At CCS in Detroit, in the mid-70s, English professor Judith McCombs was able to arrange for Ms Atwood to visit our class. We'd been required to read her novel "Surfacing"; what I remember most from her visit was her enormous and irrepressible smile. I had no idea then that Atwood's writing was going to bring so much into my adult life! If pressed I'd have to name The Robber Bride as my favorite … so far 🙂
NIMBY
It is wild that the current 60 minutes cowards even let her speak
She’s the best. 😻
Let’s protect her work.
Icon.
Atwood is one of the greatest voices of our time.
🤘🏼❤️
she’s an icon, thank you queen for making The Handmaids Tale
She is incredible. Every book that I read is engaging, direct, easy to read and their character are so vivid in my mind… One of my favorite authors, for sure!
🎉🎉🎉🎉. Wonderful Woman!!! You should read everything she's written. ❤❤❤❤
What intelligence
I believe that Miss Atwood is an a word, wonderful. Thank you for this interview ❤️
0:14 It’s John co-host of Served with Andy Roddick!!!
Irony: the woman who wrote the Handmaid’s Tale does an interview with a major media outlet that has given in to an autocracy in any number of ways.
Atwood would hate being called a prophet, but she IS a prophet. Writers and artists often are.
I consider myself a leftist, and I believe Margaret Atwood is irrelevant as well.
At 81, I've never had any particular interest in reading Margaret Atwood's work. She's changed all that. Thank you for this interview.
Her tone is irritable and cantankerous
I love her layered sliding bookshelves! So clever!
I want her to live forever
When I was living in Northern Europe I went to a banned book store. They had banned book from many countries but the thing that got me and other Americans is we had a huge section that rivaled China.
“Hold my purse”😂😂😂
I am so amped! I was there in 1987 and I could’ve watched it all day long despite not knowing the language but my mom’s cousins had museums and scenic vistas to take me to in between enormous Sunday-style roast dinners twice a day! It was my only visit to a Warsaw Pact country & the exposure spurred me to apply to grad schools to study broadcast propaganda. Love your channel. 🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰
You guys may want to do more research before airing BS. They didn't ban the books in school. The school banned it in protest of the board banning pornography for kids…
Oryx and Crake is one of my favorite series!!!
I was taught in school by her books. Couldn't appreciate her books. They were depressing for a teenager to read. Till this day just saying her name reminds me how English classes were the worst.
She is awesome 👏
Profit of Doom- Clutch ! Love the band and Atwood!🤘
I wrote a 30 page paper on the Handmaid’s Tale during grad school in the 90’s. I also marched in DC for women’s reproductive rights. It disheartening that we are still fighting and often losing. She’s always been a role model for keeping up the fight with grace.
Wow, hell of a woman. : )
I love Marge and herr inside to religious beliefs. Being raised religious this is actually factual written in a fancy manner. 😮
