After being unveiled two and a half years ago, MotorWeek got the chance to test drive the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV in Detroit, Michigan for the very first time. With a base pricing starting at $34,999, the Equinox EV is priced competitively and even qualifies for the $7,500 federal tax credit, making it possible for consumers to get one for under $30,000.
The electric Equinox offers a sleek and modern design, with aerodynamics being a key focus. It comes in a variety of LT and RS trims, with LT models featuring 19-inch wheels and RS models boasting 21-inch wheels with black exterior accents. The interior is spacious and comfortable, with a standard 17-inch central display featuring Google built-in.
Driving the Equinox EV is a pleasant experience, with a quiet and smooth ride. Front-wheel drive models offer 213 horsepower and 288 lb-ft of torque, while opting for all-wheel drive increases the power to 236 horses and 333 lb-ft of torque. The Equinox EV is built on GM’s Altium platform, offering a max range of up to 319 miles on a single charge.
