Police Clash with Anti-Government Protesters in Belgrade: A Call for Change
In the heart of Belgrade, tensions escalated on Saturday as thousands of demonstrators took to the streets to voice their discontent with the administration of President Aleksandar Vučić. This latest wave of protests is part of a broader movement that has swept across Serbia in recent months, largely driven by student activism.
The unrest traces its roots to a tragic incident last year, when a roof collapse at a newly renovated railway station resulted in the deaths of 16 individuals. The event not only sparked outrage but also fueled accusations of governmental corruption and negligence, prompting citizens to demand accountability and reforms.
Protesters, some carrying flares and chanting slogans against the current regime, expressed their frustrations over perceived incompetence and corruption in their government. What began as a peaceful march quickly turned chaotic as tensions with police mounted. In response to escalating unrest, authorities resorted to using tear gas to disperse the crowds after intermittent flare-throwing marred the demonstration.
DW correspondent Idro Seferi reported from the scene, noting the charged atmosphere and the determination of the protesters, who continue to rally for new elections and a shift in leadership. The ongoing protests reflect a growing dissatisfaction amongst the Serbian populace towards the current political climate, emphasizing the demand for transparency and democratic processes.
As Serbia grapples with these challenges, the future of the nation may hinge on the outcomes of these protests and the government’s response to its citizens’ calls for change. The events in Belgrade may be a pivotal moment in the ongoing struggle for democracy and accountability in the region.

The clown/ PreZEdent of Ukraine (CPU) took away all of "Ukrenergo" from the people of Ukraine. By force, he took all the debts from the impoverished people by turning off the electricity.Indignant at the arbitrariness, he turned off electricity to pensioners without debts: he made a collapse (blackout): worse than rasheputin. Example: the village of Maksimivka, Bogodukhivskii REM, "Kharkivoblenergo".
Didn't a similar thing happen in Ukraine several years ago? 🤔
Another color 'revolution'.
Germany never fails to stand on the wrong side of history
Just old uneducated grandpas doing the pro-government “protest” 😄 as always.

Serbians and Russians are brothers. Everyone knows that 🇷🇸☦️🇷🇺
Serbia doesn't want to go down the same road as Russia.
WW3 is closer everyday. Thailand, US, Sudan, Ukraine, Serbia, Israel, Russia, Palestine, Iran, Poland . Probably forgot somewhere.
Classic colour revolution
Serbia has learned the western color revolution book. It will never allow Ukraine maiden to happen in Belgrade! You can't fool the Serbs, they've seen it all already. Support for Serbia from Canada! 🇷🇸 🇨🇦
What Idro, the Belgrade corespondent, didn’t mention is that “pro government students” aren’t students at all, they are mostly hooligans, they are paid to be there by the regime to stop protesters from gathering in front of the National Assembly and presidential palace
🇹🇩🇪🇺 respect you brother and sister
Interesting, how come in the ard/zdf none mentioned it?
Im from one town that had mayor elections, they won by stealing votes, there's tone of evidence but vucic has his people run in every part of society
SNS voting pool will shrink a lot in incoming years as top line supporters are manipulated, media brainwashed retired old people in their 70ies (100k less each year due to moratility) – contrarian, opposition pool is now rising with young people – soon or later the regime will collapse 100% and a lot of changes, internal instability is on a horizon here…just watch!
Its not anti government, its anti corruption first and foremost.
Serbia's been heading in this direction for decades, older generations just didn't have the balls to do anything about the government
