Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, has made a plea for an immediate ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. In a statement, Mikati condemned the recent attacks by Israel on civilian populations and residential areas, revealing that 139 individuals had lost their lives in strikes just the day before. He emphasized that all of those killed were civilians, questioning where the humanity is in such actions.
Mikati also spoke out against the Israeli assault on UN peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon, labeling it as a crime that should be denounced. His call for a UN resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire comes amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon, with fears of further clashes between the two sides.
The situation in the region remains tense, with both Hezbollah and Israel involved in the conflict. The recent violence has sparked concerns about the stability and security of the region, as well as the impact on innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
As Lebanon’s PM urges for peace and an end to the violence, the international community is closely monitoring the situation, with hopes for a resolution that will bring an end to the bloodshed and suffering. The calls for a ceasefire highlight the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict between Lebanon and Israel.
