Quebec watchdog reports three men injured in shootout with Montreal police

Three men were left injured after a shootout involving Montreal police in the Dollard-des-Ormeaux neighbourhood late Sunday night. The incident has prompted an investigation by Quebec’s independent police watchdog, the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI), which was launched around 10:45 p.m. Additionally, Quebec provincial police will be conducting a parallel criminal investigation into the matter.

According to initial information provided to the BEI, Montreal police were responding to a call about gunshots heard during a dispute at a residence. It was reported that a man involved in the dispute left the home on foot and allegedly pointed a gun at a driver. Subsequently, the driver fled the scene and the man approached a second vehicle where three other individuals were present.

Upon the arrival of Montreal police at the scene, an exchange of gunfire took place between the officers and the man involved in the dispute. The situation escalated, resulting in three men sustaining injuries as a result of the shootout.

The details of the incident are still under investigation by the BEI and Quebec provincial police, as they work to uncover the events that transpired during the exchange of gunfire. For more updates on this developing story, please visit the Global News website for the latest information.
