Glad you will pass on this yacht! I guarantee that unless it has stabilizers, it will roll your guts out in any beam sea conditions. Old yachts, massive maintenance — stuff breaks down daily.
No deal. No room for a dishwasher !!!! 🤣🤣
You'll never get your money back
Cool old boat!
What a beautiful boat. Besides having no sails I would really fear the maintenance work. I already struggle with my 35 year old aluminum sailing yacht. A classic will take a lot of oyur time up.
what? no solar?
I really wish you would share some of the stuff you're smoking .
Ya, wait until you're 60 for that type of boat. TFS!
Who cares?
My thoughts. why don't you do the exploration thing while your young and healthy? Then when you get older, and your idea of a high maintenance craft is still your thing, then get a classic boat. As a former owner of an all varnished wooden boat, I can honestly say……be prepared for continuous varnishing.
All through the video I’m thinking please don’t let them buy that, please don’t let them buy that, please don’t let them buy that. A classic boat is so appealing but really is more work than fun. Unless you are someone that gets the fun from the work, it really isn’t for you.
No solar, all fuel, a maintenance nightmare, no thanks. And why go to Norway to look at boats? I'm sure there's brokerages in the United States. There's the Atlantic and pacific coastline and around the great lakes. I understand, you can brag to your friends you bought a boat in Norway.
A sailing Catamaran, or I am out. You do you, but you went from we want green to we want diesel. That boat will cost you out the ace to keep it and maintain it. Any AC. That boat would be a FOOLISH thing to buy. OLD wood boats are BAD , very bad. They fall apart. PLEASE do not buy an old wood boat.
Lean more on the practicality of a boat and less on the romance of it. Safety, parts availability, cost.
I thought you wanted to travel and discover new places. An older boat is for people who enjoy to work on a boat more than travel. It's great to have a toy to play with and get away from home, but then forget about cruising. Might be OK for the rivers and canals in Europe from France to Holland, but not for you. Come to your senses as soon as possible.
NO sun power, whatsoever. Really bad idea. Really really, bad. Sailing catamaran. newer. Please dear good with one o. The HULL Luke, The HULL. Nothing pretty matters, its all about the guts. That boat is NOT safe on the open ocean. It WILL fall apart in the open ocean. Really BAD idea.
That certainly is a beautiful boat.
A few things that come to mind. Some older teak installation methods created many through deck penetrations and they had a tendency to leak over time and contaminate the wood deck.
IMO, The boat appears to be custom built for an inshore environment. I would consult a qualified boat designer and determine the risks of taking the boat on to blue water.
The other issue is the engines. Notwithstanding the beautiful engine room, do the engines have sufficient power and have enough life left in them for safe and serious cruising? Are parts and service available for the engines in the areas you wish to explore?
Good luck it really is an exciting boat.
The "RS" has my vote.
Love your channel. Just some comments from an owner of 8 large boats of various styles. This has all the trappings of a local and weekend (realize it can do an ocean passage, but really it is best for local adventures) dream boat, super well suited for the area. But the most glaring comment (take it from someone who has owned several boats with lots of bright work) is the you will drive yourself crazy trying to keep the varnish in good shape, the sun eats the bright work finish. Unless you have the money to have the boat bright work refinished annually by others, STAY CLEAR OF THIS BOAT, or if you decide to buy it and cruise the world you will have regrets, old boats are nice to look at and fun own if you have money to spend. Buy a boat that has the least maintenance and modern systems (parts easy to find world wide.)
the swan is all show and no go🤣
Good decision, I was going to say a 60 year old boat, will not hold up to long traveling, I’m thinking engine failure, I think you need a sailboat.
What are people like in the Netherlands? Foods?
Beautiful classic refit. https://youtu.be/fZIrtYG-X2E?si=XEdxcHlBIAVQBUgW
Seriously? You're on the hunt for an offshore capable, northern latitudes, explorer yacht? Uh,,,,nope. This Feadship is the perfect yacht for the Newport Beach Harbor annual Christmas Boat Parade. Or a weekend on Catalina Island pretending to be Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood.
That boat will ROCK like a mad dog. Jason will ALWAYS be sea sick There is never a time when that boat will not rock. Mono hull are not for people that get sea sick.
She's a lovely old craft and I can see how you could fall in love with her. De Valk lists many vintage well cared for yachts that I have seen on another channel. The Dutch are very experienced off-shore ship builders. She would be perfect as a holiday cruiser. However, because you are planning to venture farther afield I don't think she's the one for you. Thank you for sharing her with us.
Thank god you are not going to get that pile of crap. Do not do it. That boat is NOT open Ocean safe.
For an adventure sailing channel these classic boat tours r a waste of my time & yours imo. Those boats should be for the rich & or retired. If u get one I’m out. I came here for the beautiful sailing adventures. Or at least the huge boats that could go to FAR up north. My other channel Kara & Nate did that. But they bought tickets. Not the boat
Now that is a crap load of work
Beautiful but not for you.
No
What do you think, would you take on a classic like this?
