South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol is facing mounting pressure as an impeachment vote looms following his controversial attempt to impose martial law. The decision to invoke martial law, a drastic measure typically reserved for times of extreme crisis, has sparked outrage among the South Korean public and lawmakers.
President Yoon’s actions have been met with strong opposition from members of parliament, who have condemned his heavy-handed tactics as undemocratic and a threat to the country’s constitutional rights. The impeachment vote scheduled for Saturday is seen as a pivotal moment for the future of South Korea and its leadership.
The fallout from President Yoon’s actions has sparked widespread protests throughout the country, with citizens demanding his resignation and calling for a return to normalcy in governance. The international community has also expressed concern over the political turmoil in South Korea, with many countries urging a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
As the impeachment vote approaches, the fate of President Yoon hangs in the balance. The outcome of the vote will not only determine his political future, but also the direction of South Korea’s democracy. The nation waits with bated breath to see how this turbulent chapter in its history will unfold.

He need to be removed immediately!!!
No mention that all the Korean dictators were supported by the USA? 😂
The president who sings American Pie is actually a dictator at heart😂
If he was smart after this big mistake he would have already announced his resignation, rather than waiting to be fired.
Go Korea.Amazing Korea citizens.
If you only watch mainstream media overtaken by leftists, you might find yourself being misled in the future. According to the South Korean National Assembly, one of the reasons for the impeachment of the South Korean President is his perceived distance from North Korea, China, and Russia. The South Korean government, led by President Yoon, is pro-democratic and opposes communist and totalitarian regimes. The opposition party initiated the impeachment process against President Yoon because his policies aligned with those of the USA, Japan, and other democratic countries.
Come out to say something. Why did you choose to do that? Give some logical explanations.
South Korea now an example to the world in so many ways 🇰🇷👏
how's the daughter of once a Dictator become a president is mind blowing. the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
America did NOT support every South Korean dictator. America dealt with whatever government was in charge respecting South Korea's sovereignty. It is the responsibility of the South Koreans to determine their government just like they did by confronting the Army and voting dictatorship down. Americans died and spilled blood on South Korean soil to prevent the dictator of the North from imposing his will on South Koreans. Because America made that sacrifuce South Korea was free to become a prosperous, democratic country . Where is the appreciation? This attempt at dictatorship was NOT supported by America. Again, America did NOT support dictatorships of South Korea but recognized a greater threat by an evil, monstrous dictator in the North. America dealt with whatever government determined by South Koreans.
America worked behind the scenes to support a democracy. The dictator before gave in to democracy no doubt with urging from America.
The initial martial law's rumor was also considered as a joke. He only watched far-right Youtube channels, and the possibility of 2nd martial law is real.
Korea's opposition party is supported by Chinese Communist Party. Their goals align.
South korean crazy now..not traveling there anymore
I looked up the history of the left in South Korea- no offense, they literally are pro North Korean agents
MAKE NORTH KOREA GREAT AGAIN
While the US goes down the drain …
No, the ruling party's consensus is to vote against impeachment, though there may be individual members who vote for it. The party as a whole would rather see the whole country and democracy burn than seeing their president going down in flames.
Who's paying for the street protest to be organized. Don't forget that politics is a game ran by crooks, thieves and liars using the public as puppets. In modern times protests are funded, directed, organized and stimulated by agent provocateurs highly skilled and paid to incide violence and provoke emotions. South Korean president is a fool to allow himself to be trapped by his advisors to initiate the martial law and change course in less than an hour. South Korea is a leaderless country governed by western system. Imagine if North Korea attacks South Korea while they are busy playing power politics or attacks South Korea after the impeachment process.
I disagree with Favian's analysis: a second coup, while not definite, is a strong possibility. And people's lack of support for democracy is evident by the fact that we don't see the kind of protest we saw with president Park's impeachment. It seems many are apathetic… not fighting.
The military leaders need to be canned as well. They executed unlawful orders from a President who used the military against the opposition politicians. Get competent DW and translate what the signs in the protest says.
A democracy is a foolish system which the citizens are be played by politicians while they are exchanging their term in office. In a democratic system you can change the politicians but you cannot change the system even though its flawed. It's like using Microsoft Windows or Google Android system thinking the user has freedom choice when installing and uninstalling apps but ignorant to the fact that the key functional environment/structural device is monopolize without asking for your consent.
우린 광기에 굴하지 않으리라. 우리는 그를 어떻게든 단죄하리라
Notice that the president is saying nothing. 😮
Say it like Smokin Joe …"Only Almighty can make me quit"

Democracy 100%
Yoon Suk Yeol practise nepotism by promoting high school classmates and close associates to prominent positions in state administration and the military.
Yoon Suk Yeol’s presidency has been mired in scandal and his popularity remained wobbly.
He was increasingly unpopular for the way he has dealt with the problems that have been raised with his own conduct and the conduct of the first lady,
His botched martial law declaration and his desperate move against mounting scandals, institutional obstruction, and calls for impeachment may already be shaping up to be the last straw that breaks his shaky presidency.
His dramatic move to invoke martial law managed to turn even members of his own party against him, with the People Power chair describing his actions as “unlawful”.
His presidency has gone awry and deteriorated in quality, standards and value.
Ich verstehe das nicht, warum hat er das gemacht???
Sara duterte will be impeached too. Next all politicians who are corrupt.
this is like the second one in a few years right?
The American influence on South Korea is clear.. Obesity is completely out of control for Asian people living on a Western diet.. Now, what's this about a protest?
