Every year, thousands of men walk out of prison and into a world they barely recognize.
In Huntsville, Texas, this raw, unfiltered story captures their first moments of freedom—clutching red bags, wearing secondhand clothes, and facing a future filled with uncertainty.
Some are met with family and hope, others with loneliness and fear.
Torn between redemption and relapse, their choices begin the moment they leave the gate.
This powerful documentary reveals the emotional struggles, broken systems, and impossible odds faced by ex-inmates trying to rebuild their lives.
Freedom isn’t the end of the sentence—it’s just the beginning.

This doc was great… The Church.. The cynical bustop employees, the prisoners themselves. So much here….
Ex-Con: NAVY SEAL MILITIA BOW DOWN!
Elroy: STFU and Get your ass on the bus…
I understand that these men are convicted felons. That old man needs to show respect if he wants respect or he needs to not work there.
How do them negro’s face there family knowing they were homosexual on the inside they say 99% of the negro are like puffy
That’s an amazing documentary! I would love to volunteer for an organization like that here in Colorado.
Admittedly the prices for the clothes are high, and it looks kinda second hand
Good lord , ripping these guys off selling them donated stuff for high prices. They’re probably getting funding also , shame on you!!
31:10 wow needed him in trouble but once free no longer existed that was my biggest flaw.. god should be praised during good times and bad
35:34 this guy is totally lost 😂
38:15 go back 2 school bro ❤
40:27 be safe sis 😅
Out not more than a day and can't follow simple directions (line wait in line, wait your turn) – They will be back.
This jerk working at the Greyhound station better watch his mouth and attitude these inmates are his job security, If they don't come back he wont have a job. 😂😂😂😂
I like Elroys straight no nonsense opinions. The man probably seen it all and knows what hes talking about
Huntsville prison is the GOAT.
Make our license plates carefully and cleanly boys.
That dude pissed for bring in line will be back in prison.
That rapping dude will be back in prison soon.
Hope as life insurance policies on each one
Twenty years and fifty bucks in the pocket. Its no wonder prison has revolving doors. Without family, so many are doomed. In a nut shell, serving twenty years is a life sentence.
Sad to say but having family members and an Ex they always end them back Too many rules One week can’t work because of that They set them up for failure but then it’s a choose
lol at the guy asking to buy cigs instead of clothes
The one guy gives him a ticket to Galveston and doesn't care what he needs to get to safety. That just gave me a little sour taste from all this kindness and help. Why was that necessary? Just go all the way with kindness. It won't cost anything just to help further with guidance and advice. Honestly.
But great job to everyone helping out in this program.
🙏🙏🙏🙏😔
The store owner needs a new profession . He is sooooo bitter!!!
The dude asked for cigarettes when the lady told her to pick up a pant, shirt, and shoes. Anything they want, that dude, is not going last long, man
The dude with black shirt and black glasses, he talks too much. From my experience, he's, too, not going last long either
Elroy!!
The black shop keeper is just a little bit pessimistic, but I assumes it’s also frustrating for him to see many come back.
13:38 "see you next year" was kinda sad.
Jail house religion. I like that synopsis. That about sums it up.
It's not over, whoever forgets returns
15:39 he’ll be back inside
That bus station manager sure has gotten cynical. Hard to blame him, but it’s sad.
The ticket guy the gal working clothes store have an attitude
Very well done documentary. Kudos.
From hearing them speak a lot of these men gave the maturity of 8 year olds
looks like Huntsvillle
Great appreciation to the Volunteers, they're doing an amazing job! ❤👏
Respect from Australia
The church people absolutely wonderful souls,….. The man and woman at the "bus station" instantly felt something wrong with the way they were yelling all the prices of the clothes and then when I heard how that man truly felt and what he was saying made me feel like he was taking advantage of making any kind of money off of these men whom he strongly seems to dislike, I can't think of ANY bus station selling any of those things so he comes across as a man that has very low morals and integrity,…… The volunteers from the church are actually making custom belts for everybody who needs one letting them use phones feeding them giving them referrals and doing everything they can to help these men succeed it's almost disturbing watching the way he is treating everybody in the station meanwhile in the volunteers with so much love care compassion and generally wanting them to succeed
