Suspect Charged with Hijacking Plane After Security Incident at Vancouver Airport
In a startling turn of events at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), a 39-year-old man has now been formally charged with hijacking following a dramatic security incident that unfolded on Tuesday afternoon. The suspect, identified as Shaheer Cassim, allegedly pilfered a small aircraft from the Victoria Flying Club and took to the skies, navigating his way over the Salish Sea before ultimately landing at YVR.
The incident, which raised significant security concerns, sparked immediate reactions from both airport officials and law enforcement. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as the situation unfolded, with heightened security protocols being enacted to ensure the safety of all travelers and staff at the airport. Authorities swiftly apprehended Cassim, who made a brief court appearance on Wednesday afternoon, where he was remanded into custody pending further proceedings.
This hijacking attempt marks a rare and alarming breach of aviation security within Canada, drawing attention to the measures in place to prevent such incidents. The investigations are ongoing, with officials examining the circumstances that allowed for the unauthorized takeover of the aircraft.
As the shocking details continue to emerge, the local community and travelers alike remain on high alert, reassessing the implications this event may have for airport security protocols moving forward.

Nice security
He may have stolen a plane but he didn't hi jack one- you need passengers for that- is ctv becoming a misinformation channel 🤔 please do better
Cultural enrichment!
They'll probably give him a job
Offer him freedom in a day…
Yet we suffer from the long arm if the law… he s free and living on off society.. i work 14 hours per day to make ends meet… go figure
Is it high jacking because he operated the plane? Like if he rolled it onto a flatbed and took off with it. That would be what? Piracy ?
Another Dr. that didn't get a pay raise??
Got to love these immigrant losers.
Just proved it can be done. Proof of concept. This was just the dry run for something later on. By someone else.
He was testing the opportunity and chances, he was testing the system for future terrorism, his name speaks volume…..dig hard to see if he is a sleeping agent of some country….omg……another thing to be worried 😱😱😱😱😱💔💔💔💔💔💔💔🫢🫢🫢🫢🫢🫢🫢

I know a guy named Pradeep!
Wow how unprepared! Just showed lack of readiness and the need for a quicker and better military response.
This could be a decoy or crash test dummy for something to come from the USA or other enemies.
Thank god for the US Air National Guard F-15’s cuz our CF-18’s can’t even intercept a Cessna in a timely fashion 🤣 You can call it NORAD but really it’s just US Military power defending North America . Our cf-18’s couldn’t afford the fuel 🤣
Typical 🇵🇰 behaviour
Colour me surprised!!!!!
Here in UK access to airport field is limited and very difficult thing to do for anyone to try. This suspect definitely was planning for something. In certain countries nights are more difficult then days times. The bigger airport is the bigger chance someone can penetrate especially if the airport is 2 miles long but doing so for someone who d’ont works there is looking for troubles the worse scenario of is army base he will shot dead whether is night or day time.
