The forgotten displaced from Abkhazia | DW Documentary
It has been more than 30 years since fighting broke out between Georgia and Abkhazia. Some of those whom the conflict displaced found refuge in a former Georgian sanatorium: the Hotel Metalurg. Now, they’re under pressure to leave again.
It was one of the bloodiest conflicts that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union. Abkhazia wanted to secede from Georgia, and expelled almost all ethnic Georgians from the small region on the Black Sea. Thousands moved to Tskaltubo, an abandoned tourist resort known for its Soviet-era luxury sanatoriums. Over the past three decades, most of the community’s men have moved away, leaving behind many women and children. The buildings they live in have fallen into disrepair, including the Hotel Metalurg itself. Now, there are fears they will be driven out of what has become their second home. Many, especially the older residents, still hope to one day return to their real home of Abkhazia.

First of all the only thing good about this film was the music. Besides this I learned nothing about the situation at all it truly is a toilet film made by the stupid. The director needs a better job since he has. No idea on how to tell a real, story.
These displaced people won't get any sympathy or tears from those who claim to fight for basic human right and dignity.
Thanks for telling us there story.
Lmao what a shot one sided socumentary about some squatters )) Ewally? This is the narrativer? Russia is bad all is bad but – America GOOD! UN is good! All is good, but Russia is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!

they deserve to live like that when they are not grateful that they have a roof over them and don't want to work for their own money. if I had been poor and I could have lived there I know it's not pretty but I wouldn't have cared I would have been happy I at least have a roof over my head. and why do you want to give birth to children when you have no job. and you have no house or money. try and do something to get money legally.
there are no children in town?
Russia freed Georgian from the clutches of Persian Empire.
I was in Pitsunda, Abkhazia in July 1989. It was still the Soviet Union, but I saw a violence against Georgians. Also, a Ukrainian family has rented a house in Pitsunda. They said, Chechens delivered rifles and hid them at the owner's house. People have forgotten to speak about it. I remember ethnic groups from the North Caucasus wanted to create North Caucasian Islamic Republic or something like that.
Typical Western media focusing on the gloom and doom of its enemies, DW has done a fantastic job of exposing the lower part of the Russian society, not because it loves Russian people but because it wish to show its enemy in a bad like for the benefit of its own world. That is the intent and interest behind presenting this video.

Old made up story
It's semi-tropical there and Batumi is beautiful and fun.
Georgia don't allow your choice to be taken. Your future is Europe.
Last I checked majority of people in Abkhazia chose to be an independent state after the fall of the Soviet Union. It was Georgia that declared war on them and tried to ethnically cleanse the territory like they did with South Ossetia
Abkhazia. Abu-Dhabi. Azerbaijan. etc…
This is heartbreaking. Thanks for telling their story. The Georgian people are some of the nicest, most humble people I have ever met. 🇬🇪 much love from Spain.
Glad they got proper housing
To those who don't have kids now, my advice to you is, don't have kids! Have pity on them because they will have no future anymore! Save as much as you can for your retirement!
So great story thanks,
This world is really hopeless! Not having kids was the best decision I made in my life! The condition of life you have there is the same in many countries! There is no future anymore for the coming generations!
Great doco you've got/ Respect- ONE2
comments keep disappearing…..😂
Georgia is approaching elections, and there is increased propaganda coming🥰
How the coloniser Russia destroys everything
The newlyweds should leave these folks alone. Poverty tourism.
Interesting propaganda😉, what about the people who are killed by the Israeli with direct help od thw West usa Germany uk and france, could make a documentary about the Palestinian 😊
They are homeless people and it's very difficult for them to such life.
I strongly hope that DW will make a document about the homeless people in the USA which they have been living in the streets for years.
Thank you kindly ❤
Proxy wars at its best
War is terrible! The West is responsible for these wars because of their relentless propaganda and efforts to destroy the Soviet Union. Socialist countries only needed time and resources to boost their production for products that would make every day life easier and more convenient. They were doing well in the other aspects of managing a society. There were not so many social ills like in the capitalist societies.
Interesting
Stalin admitted to being thoroughly Georgian. I find the people of Georgia and the country isn’t European and I am shocked the EU wants to include them. It’s a bad idea.
