The Riskiest Boat Purchase Ever! No Survey. No Sea Trial.
In a daring twist of fate, Jason and Nikki Wynn found themselves embracing the unknown by purchasing a 50-foot Explorer Yacht at auction without ever starting the engine, performing a survey, or conducting a sea trial! The couple, chronicled for their adventures in sustainable living and exploration, reveals the wild story behind their bold decision to buy the very vessel they thought was out of reach.
The Wynns had spent months searching for the ideal boat, one capable of enduring high-latitude voyages. Their dream was a vessel built for adventure, one that could withstand ice, fog, and the unpredictabilities of the ocean. Little did they know, fate had something extraordinary in store for them.
In just 48 hours, the Wynn couple made a life-altering decision: they drained their bank account to seize a boat they had seen only once. With no warranties, no guarantees, and no possibility of turning back, they speculated whether this decision was either their smartest move yet or an outright gamble.
The video unfolds as Jason and Nikki take viewers onboard their new adventure home. They discuss the appealing features of the boat, as well as its shortcomings, while sharing their emotional rollercoaster of purchasing a craft with so much uncertainty.
From cutting-edge solar technology to an impressive galley, the yacht boasts amenities fitting for high-seas exploration. They dive into the boat’s unique construction, including an aluminum hull designed for exploration and features that offer excellent living space for friends and family.
However, there’s a catch: this exhilarating adventure comes with challenges. Lack of an engine room and potential service issues looms large. As they navigate the risks, Jason and Nikki reveal how the auction process unfolded, highlighting the stress, excitement, and surprise of securing what some deemed a ‘steal’ at auction.
Join them as they step into a new chapter, brimming with potential and uncertainty. This enchanting tale serves as a reminder that life is meant to be lived boldly—because sometimes, embracing the unknown leads to the most rewarding adventures.
Curious to see how this story unfolds? Tune in to explore the thrills and challenges that await the Wynns on their newest journey!

Amazing BUT you are still, one of few, selling the hugely expensive AG-1 scam.
Amazing how cheap it is when you transfer money without people and people running the regulations needed within a system to make sure people are protected. You owe 25k to cherites for the taxes you didn't pay. Pay up..
Parlay Revival made a video on sailing kites.
I am so happy for yall. ❤
Wow – what a cool boat. She looks great and I hope she meets your expectations. If you give a diesel engine clean fuel and religiously change the oil, the likelihood of a diesel engine failure is near zero. Damage to the prop and shaft is a much more likely to stop you dead in the water. Unless you have a separate prop, shaft and propulsion (electric or diesel), you are still stuck. Don't forget, you have the kite option to help you limp to somewhere close to a port, just make sure your SeaTow subscription is paid up. The reality is, if you are truly stuck, you have modern satellite communication resources and unless you are in the NW passage or Antarctica, help isn't that far away. As far as the batteries go, you can get 12 Renogy 200AH LiFePO4 batteries for ~$8,400. I'll bet you could sell the AGM batteries you have now for decent money. All that said, congratulations on your shrewd purchase, nicely done. I look forward to watching your future voyages.
Did I spy a Zundert 10 in the refrigerator? It's very difficult to get that beer in the US but it is an excellent Trappist quadruppel. Please it warm up to the right temperature before enjoying it!
Like the high gunwale. 👍
This boat looks a lot better than the stinker you guys bought last time !
Followed from the beginning traveling the U.S. in a motorhome. So normal, sane adventure seeing our country. NOW, traveling the world on the water, racing baja, buying a boat basically sight unseen since all you did was see it briefly. CRAZY STUFF! Must be the salt air!
I'm excited to see you solve the issue's on this vessel and as a penny pincher myself love the purchase and I think your in for a treat. The only concern is a get home system but you two will figure it out.
Ok you guys go me 🙂
As , your heads are spinning. Here's a couple of TIPS FOR OWNING A NEW YACHT. Take, photos of all mechanical stuff. It's a new boat. Bolts will back off. So take a paint stick. And draw a line over all bolts to there sides so u can see when they back off. In all key areas. Paint a dot. When u check temps always point to the same dots and log temp. Your Buddy had them on his yacht u guys stayed on. In stall a couple of HIDEN small safes. Cash and papers.. good luck…. That yacht is very sexy..
You had me at dishwasher 😂 So happy for you guys 🎉 Nominate Victoria and Rico for first guests
Love it! Btw, currently following Yacht City Life fitting a Prius hybrid motor into their yacht (yet another solution;)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! is the one going to be called Curiously 3.0???? I am so excited for your upcoming adventures on the water. I will always be a fan of the Wynns.
Congratulations on your new boat, what a thrill. I was just thinking you have made a huge move from your Bounder!
Where is the mast?
Best of luck with the new boat! My only concern for you is the V drive. I used to have a Pearson sloop with a Volvo V drive and I had continuous alignment problems. Once it got out of alignment so bad that the vibration caused the separation of the shaft from the coupling. Had to sail back into my slip in a crowded Florida marina under sail, not fun! Anyway best of luck to you both!!!!!
I am so happy for you to put the past in the past and move forward.
So cool and your glow is very cute. As a former deep shipwreck diver I would be extremely careful around any ice and I am sure you will be. Seems like their was a movie about this decades ago. Looking forward to the race. You know there will be stories.
Woo whooo! So happy for you (and us). Recalling your first video of YETI and thinking then it is so you and take a chance on it. The design, style, age, capability and interior add up to a perfect choice. Glad the seller recognized the value you bring to his brand too.
wow VERY COOL BOAT!
I own and love all aluminum boats, great investment.
Congratulations Guys! So excited for you, best of luck!
Congrats on a great purchase. Didn't congratulate you on getting rid of that carbon fiber CAT disaster. Onward and upward. Good work guys.
