Video Description: “Was it a Mistake to Leave NYC?”
In this deeply personal vlog, I dive into one of the most pivotal decisions of my life: leaving New York City. Was it my biggest career blunder, or the best choice for my well-being? While many viewers suggest a return to NYC as the solution to recent challenges, I reveal that the issue is far more intricate. The shifting landscape of content creation has left many creators, including myself, navigating uncharted waters.
Join me as I reflect on feeling creatively and emotionally stuck and explore the importance of personal fulfillment over stability. Discover how this journey has shaped my content and my life, fostering a commitment to evolving rather than reverting to the past. Let’s confront the deeper questions together.

Always liked your videos, so informative. That's the key. Walking, recording and providing information. Keep it up!
1.16 into a ten minute video I get 2 adverts/commercials!! Maybe this is another issue, the annoying ads we have to go through now for the videos. Even though I unsubscribed a couple of days ago, this video was there for me to watch. The Asian videos were rarely promoted even when I was a subscriber, except maybe in the beginning. I would not be surprised if this is clever marketing and AK is going to suddenly pop up in NY tomorrow and be ta-da and this has all been part of the plan to get those of us who don't watch anymore to be aware of the channel again.
You have to do what's right for you. You'll be able to look back on your life and look at all the places you've been, the people you met and the things you experienced and know that you've had a full, rewarding life. You'll be glad that you didn't listen to the naysayers and found your own way.
People start YouTube channels for various reasons. When I first started mine, I just wanted to know how YouTube worked. Then I used it to force me to learn things. People always say they're going to learn this and that and never do. So I announced on my YouTube channel that I was going to learn Affinity and post an instructional video every week. With my feet to the fire I learned how to use Affinity Photo and Designer and am posting my stuff on pixabay. I've kept up the once a week posting schedule. Who knew? My next thing is learning a program called Blender.
After saying that, when my new neighbor found out I ran a YouTube channel I had to break it to her that most people can't live on what they make. I think she thought we were all Mr. Beast 😂. Mine won't make a lot of money because it's instructional. Actually it's going to COST me money right now because my present system doesnt have the heft to run Blender or DaVinci Resolve. My channel is small and only a few years old,( it's also a separate channel from this one) but it's nice to get that random comment thanking me for not teaching like a "tech geek" 😂 and keep on going. We all learn by doing.
Like many people these days I have multiple income streams. I find it's better for my mental health.
As for your long form content? I watch that when I'm working. It's really relaxing.❤
You do you. And you're right, those that don't have a youtube channel don't understand what's driving the falloff.
AK, you lost your first love of being a YouTuber. Think back to those days and get out of this funk that you're in. Vlogging doesn't suit you. Get back to feeling good about yourself even if means antidepressants for a time to help lift your mood and help you get out of your head for a while. The joy is in their, go home, regroup and start over. Thought for you ' take a regular job ' get around people and get out of your head!❤
Hey ActionKid…love your channel…whether it's New York, Miami. LA, wherever. Just do you…life is short. Go see and do as much as you can while you're young. (Besides, with all the chaos going on right now in the US, being in a distant land recording the sights and sounds of other cultures, that's the ticket! ). Ever though of becoming a digital marketer? You already know how to make social media content and I think you'd be really good at it.
What about other big cities in US? Colorado has really great places and other states!
Manny left New York too! He’s in the Philippines. A YouTube channels success or not doesn’t make your life! Do what you can while you can! I’m proud of both of you!!
Hey, AK. Your videos and peaceful demeanor helped me to get through being stressed and terrified during the pandemic. Meeting you when you visited California was great and I will never forget your kindness. I’m sorry that you’re experiencing troubles with your channel. I believe that in life change is the only constant. Never be afraid to evolve and always do what is right for you. Regardless of where you are in the world, you’ll have my support. Keep your chin up and enjoy the journey. Wishing you many blessings.
Hello AK. Don't worry about algorithms, viewership, artificial intelligence and such. You're a young man who has the opportunity to see the world and document it. Have fun!
AK, here's some wisdom if you choose to listen. Listen to your sibscribers, they are the ones who watch your channel.
Your parents are not you.
Your faithful subscribers do not want to watch full time of Asia or other foreign countries
The product you sold everyone has changed and you're wondering why you lost so many views?
Listen to your subscribers.
Doesn't have to be NY but l believe if you stay in Asia your channel will die for sure.
Do what makes you happy, but if you want to keep subscribers, listen to them
AK, your NYC New Year’s Eve coverage had us all in awe & we always had a lot of fun ringing in the new year with you!.. Epic! 🎆✨
I will not watch UT's AI videos, they are awful! YouTube is destroying itself, they are only interested in making money off advertisers! I've watched your channel almost from the beginning AK….the average life of a YT channel is about 10 years. I'm sure you will think of a new angle on which to make future videos….Walt in Miami
to make a determination: does where you live now at all compare to nyc? or did you find something in your new locale that is better, more desirable, than whatever brought you to nyc in the first place? whatever's going on, i really hope you are really happy!
How come we can’t watch your lives?
I know it was a tough decision to leave NYC and move to Miami but you had to do what was right for you. Life changes for all of us but you will come through this with a positive attitude and strength! Be strong ActionKid.
Where are you located
So, this is the situation. I believe your viewers want you in New York City, but your heart doesn’t want to be there and that’s where the conflict comes. I think viewers want you to narrate your thoughts, while you navigate throughout the city. Personally, I don’t live in NYC but that’s what I like seeing the most. There’s something special about that city. I get it though, you’ve outgrown NY and you want to explore other places, which is fine. However, you need to ask yourself, “what’s more important, pleasing my audience and getting views, or exploring new places and expressing my artistic creativity”? I really hope you can have the best of both worlds, but as you mentioned, numbers don’t lie.
AK, I started viewing your videos during the pandemic and I enjoyed watching you walk around NYC having conversations with yourself. I can relate to your moving out of NYC. I lived in NY my whole life until 2021 and left. Like you, I miss my family and friends, but I also felt the need to explore what other regions have to offer.
How can your channel be failing if you have 450,000 subscribers? That's a really respectable audience! Has your subscriber base been shrinking? Did you use to have more?
Yes, I liked watching you in New York. I like your walking Talking video. Just walking is boring we like to hear where your at and the history behind it.
Hey for everyone saying to Actionkid to go back to NYC, we should all be watching his parents videos from NYC now to get the numbers up. And the videos from China especially are very uplifting and bring a view of the world we will probably never get to experience. And we get to see Actionkid's family history. I found that to be a privilege that you would share that with the world, Actionkid.
3:41 AI doesn't have a heart. Alphabet Inc doesn't have a heart. Unfortunately, I as a "free" consumer and you as a "free" producer are not really "free" and every action we do (me in consuming, and you in content producing) feeds the beast. I don't mean we feed the company with revenue, but we are literally training their AI models with every single interaction, be it big or small. I'm not preaching, because I know first hand that it's very hard to break the cycle.
I didn't comment on your previous video but another truth of why your content is failing against the AI slop is because consumers themselves are pretty stupid. I have a family relative whom I send really good documentaries about geopolitics from trusted sources and give a balanced diet from the centre-left and centre-right perspective. But I've gone into this family member's history and seen that he hardly opens my content, and when he does, he makes it through about 2 minutes of the good stuff. But his history is littered with AI slop… videos that have generated images, generated voice, and highlighted subtitles… and he is ADDICTED to this shitty content. I ask myself why? And I find in response that this is what social media is good at doing… reflecting your own bias. But we humans have to be human and snap out of it. Bring in some critical thinking and evaluation. But most people aren't willing to do this because we're impatient, stupid and when you have almost unlimited content that excites your innermost bias, unfortunately, it's too easy to get high on your own narrative.
So you've two monsters to contend with: the corporations that enable this and the humans that can't break the cycle.
Man I feel sorry for you I love your videos…
Indeed things are changing. Political influence becoming more apparent, the country walking around with a chip on their shoulder, and yeap the introduction of AI. The need for five minutes of fame, overwhelming social media. I feel there is no going back, just adapting to the change, inevitable. There are no easy solutions. You now have to find content that you’re comfortable with, then things once again will fall into place. I don’t feel going back is now a total option, but a revisit every now and then, why not. Good luck, and remember that you actually were at the beginning of the innocence of YouTube, and your ingenuity will guide you to your journey.
The first video I watched of yours was Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown, and the Tappanzee bridge. I still watch this video occasionally. I continued to watch your videos from there, but you haven’t been showing up in my suggestions I guess because I’m not very interested in Asia. Maybe try visiting Eastern Europe, England, etc. You can still be creative!
Please turn the Camera Forward! I want to see where You are going!!
Hello AK can you please continue to say the weather and the date also time at the start please? :). I always liked that featured, you're the only one who does it. I was one who was vocal about you leaving NYC. But you were right to move on (mostly) from there. Youtube like ebay is always changing- adapt or die they say in the Army. I along for this new chapter. Good luck.
I loved your NYC videos. Florida is okay, some parts.
You do you but you are missing the point that people only want to see NYC from a New Yorkers perspective. Not boring Florida or really anywhere else especially when you are a tourist. You also have to have a personable personality to attract people to keep watching your content like Sifat who really started the live chat conversations with his viewers and built his community around it. I watched both of you as a New Yorker myself but stopped watching you because you no longer wanted to be in NYC. That’s when your views/viewers went down.
Beautiful, crazy, chaotic, energetic , creative, unusual, sometimes shady, free spirited NYC and New Yorkers was action your former viewers loved. When it was gone they left. You thought you left a sinking ship. You were dead wrong.
Happy Thanksgiving. We miss you and wish you much success. Your totally correct the human connection matters we all get pleasure from human connection. Action Kid you never will be forgotten . God Bless you and your family.
We support you whatever you decide because I/We know you will choose the best options. Best of luck!
You've misjudged your audience. NYC Walking Show has 24k viewers for the parade, while you're showing old footage. You did good content in NYC. That's why we watched. Personally I think you just burned out. I've watched since the covid days. I will not continue supporting your channel. I do not want your advice on the economy or your take on current events. Just want NYC content.
I only enjoy the NYC video's.
I don’t live in New York anymore. I left New York back in May, and moved down to Florida, and that is why I am currently living right now. Other YT channels like “NYC Walking Show”, “dutchmazz” and others made awesome NYC exploration videos and that’s why I missed NYC a lot.
He moved to Asia 😮 once a New York always a New York you never really leave you will be back 😊 your on a expedition Explore😅 the world time it goes fast 😀 something you can’t get back “HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU” until we meet again
add DRONE shots for more interesting visuals.
also people have seen tons of these videos and are bored with them.
Hi AK. If people like the content creator, people will watch their videos no matter where they are. Be authentic and focus on what makes you happy. 😊
It's interesting Bigsuper road vlog does the same walks in country Jamaica and your both names are Ken. I hope you continue to thrive.
I see some people have said AK leaving NYC for Asia is a good thing because NYC is dangerous. But what you people aren't touching on is the fact that his parents are still here and he now has them doing the walks for him. I don't know about AK or anyone else, but I wouldn't feel right knowing that my parents are doing walking videos on the streets of NYC. That would worry me. There have been random attacks on people in NYC. YOU, AK, were attacked yourself. It's hard to enjoy walks with your parents while worrying about their safety the whole time.
I used to watch you, walks on wall street, and Fernando's Super Friend, but I just kind of stopped. For you, it was shortly after your injury in Boston, for Walks on Wall Street, he went political, for Fernando, no other reason than the less frequent live streams the three of you started doing. I was used to nightly live streams.
Sorry brother my issue was not having time to follow. I came back today. I think other parts are good besides New York City. It is true you do New York City content.
Maybe try going live on twitch. A lot of YouTube creators have migrated there for live streaming
Your parents are knocking it outta the park. Love them doing videos they are always eating. Lol and i love that part. They doing you proud.❤
It's your NYC Livestreams that got me hooked. I first came across your channel during the pandemic. Other parts of the world don't interest me as much as NYC, sorry to say. Your Miami Livestreams were fun to watch as well.
It’s a different world now. And possibly your viewers have grown and changed, maybe got busier, don’t have as much time to watch. There are a few channels I still love, used to watch every day, but I don’t have time to watch anymore. AI will destroy many things that used to be. It’s a shame. Your channel is still excellent, though. I enjoy it. Hope it gets more views moving forward.
