The city of Tempe, Arizona, was plagued by a notorious graffiti artist known as ‘Penis Man’ in 2020, leaving explicit and provocative tags all over the city. The moniker appeared on abandoned buildings, city dumpsters, bridges, signs, and even a water tower in Mercer County. While some found the graffiti humorous, others were offended by its presence.
Authorities in Tempe documented nearly 300,000 incidents of graffiti in 2019, with ‘Penis Man’ being one of the most prolific taggers in the area. Despite efforts to catch the culprit, the identity of ‘Penis Man’ remained a mystery. The city spent significant resources and time trying to eradicate the graffiti, but the tags continued to appear.
In the midst of ‘Penis Man’s reign of graffiti, a more tasteful and artistic tag featuring a stylized pizza slice was also discovered on the walls of several pizzerias in the area. While graffiti is generally frowned upon, the skill and creativity of the taggers behind the pizza-themed artwork were undeniably impressive.
The ‘Remember When ‘P***s Man’ Roamed the Streets?’ video delves into the chaos caused by the infamous graffiti artist and the contrasting creativity displayed by other taggers in the city.
