Why Haribo Refuses to Expand Beyond Gummies
In a candy landscape dominated by a multitude of flavors and forms, Haribo stands out as a titan of gummy candy manufacturing. With a remarkable production rate at its Wisconsin factory of 60 million Goldbear gummies per day, Haribo has carved a significant niche for itself, focusing exclusively on gummies while competitors diversify their portfolios into various snack territories.
The allure of gummy candy is not solely in its unique texture, but in the strategic decisions made by Haribo that allow the company to thrive. Unlike Hershey, which has ventured into pretzels and dipped fruit snacks, or Ferrara, known for its assorted range of chewy and hard candies, Haribo’s commitment to a single product line has become its cornerstone of success. This singular focus helps the brand maintain quality while leveraging its expertise, creating a powerful advantage in a competitive market.
The Wall Street Journal’s latest feature delves into Haribo’s methodology, highlighting not only its dedication to gummies but also its innovative use of local factories and regional flavors to enhance its global footprint. By decentralizing its operations, Haribo tailors its offerings to cater to the tastes of different markets, ensuring that consumers around the world find familiar flavors while also experiencing unique regional twists.
As the episode unfolds, it offers a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s factories, where precision and care come together to drive production efficiency and maintain the brand’s high standards. Haribo’s approach allows them to manage costs effectively while ensuring that their beloved gummies consistently satisfy customer cravings.
The video also raises intriguing questions about the future of the brand. What’s next for Haribo? Will the company remain steadfast in its gummy-only approach, or could it explore new avenues in the candy industry? As the episode concludes, viewers are left pondering the potential for growth within a niche market and how Haribo’s commitment to its core product could continue to differentiate it in an ever-evolving sector.
In conclusion, Haribo’s deliberate strategy highlights the power of specialization in a crowded marketplace. By refusing to stray beyond gummies, Haribo sets a compelling example of how focusing on a single category can yield remarkable success, illustrating a unique blend of tradition and innovation in the world of candy manufacturing.

That expert you interviewed was not very informative.
EXPERT: "They've gone all-in on one product, which is great, but only if it's trending."
REPORT: "The gummy market is going wild in recent years."
EXPERT: "Yeah, but, really, they only have one product."
REPORT: "Haribo now makes over 500 products."
🙄
Either she doesn't know what she's talking about, or the interview was edited so badly that she is being taking out of context.
sweet 6 minute long ad, how much did Haribo pay for this sponsored content?
Nope. Not in my house. That's all garbage.

Haribo is German but don't forget Haribo licorice is Danish
I'm in the UK and I can't stand the egg and heart ones. I'd prefer an eggy fart!!! I want more cola bottles!!! 🤬
I love the pineapple flavor abd thats the least amount you get in a bag😢
I guess it's great to eat after smoking a joint. That's why Americans love them.😂
OK so they are only selling the kids stuff in the US. What about the salty liquorice for adults, there should be a market for that as well
I remember watching it being build. Massive building
Hmmm… If the American market is supplied from a factory in Wisconsin, shouldn't the products be called HaRiWi? 😁
Greetings from Bonn, Germany. 😉
Tangfastics 🤤 🇬🇧
Why has the 4lb. bag been out of stock on Amazon for a cool minute now?
Twin Snakes are so underrated. I love the difference in flavour between the two. 😋
They have a plant in the heart of Orlando! It’s so close to Disney, that I’m surprised Disney doesn’t have some sort of partnership with them 😅
When I lived in Finland the options were much more out of the box with unique tastes.. I love the so sweet options
Haribo's liquorice Pontefract Cakes are my favorite ❤
I prefer Black Forest Bears because they’re softer, eating Haribo Bears is like chewing on rubber 😂
I'm an American living in small town Germany, and the supermarket near my home has an entire long aisle devoted to Haribo products. I'm in heaven.

If only they could make gelatin-free gummies at the wisconsin plant
I think Katjes gummy candy taste better and most variants are even vegan. But I like the sour cucumbers from Haribo or whatever they are called in the US.
Watching this while eating their gummy bears 😭
It's pronounced HAH-REE-BOH
4:53 What an elegant way of saying "We found ways to make our product more safe in other countries that require it, but it wasn't as profitable in the US. If we're forced to, then we'll do it, because we've already been doing it outside of the US".
I feel like this video asserted how few products Haribo makes, then proceeded to show me how many bazillion products they make.
haribo do the opposite in the Uk exept for 1 called tangtastics I think they deffo upped the cherries in them as I think thats what most people enjoy out of that pack but for all the rest of the packs they make they give you the worst flavour most common 🤣

Und Erwachsene ebenso! 🎶🧸
Everyone should eat lots and lots of sugar free gummy bears. Highly recommend!
The bo in Haribo stands for Bonn. When I lived there, there was a whole neighborhood that smelled like gummi bears, but I think they've moved out of town now.
people also need to consider that the candy we eat in the US is different than the candy in EU
