Step back in time with me to the early 19th century, a time when chocolate was a beloved delicacy enjoyed by Americans for any occasion. In the 1800s, chocolate was not just reserved for dessert – it was a staple at breakfast tables across the country. Today, we are going to transport ourselves back to this era by making a batch of decadent 1812 Chocolate Cookies to celebrate Valentine’s Day in true historic fashion.
Valentine’s Day has a rich history that spans centuries, with lovers exchanging symbols of affection dating back to at least the 17th century. Roses, in particular, have long been associated with this romantic holiday. As we come together to bake these chocolate biscuits, let us imagine the joy and anticipation that courting couples from two centuries ago must have felt as they exchanged tokens of love on this special day.
To begin our recipe, we will need to gather our ingredients. Flour, sugar, butter, eggs, and of course, rich cocoa powder will come together to create a dough that is both indulgent and satisfying. As we mix and knead, think about the simple pleasures that our 19th-century counterparts would have found in the act of baking – a true labor of love that brought families and friends together.
Once our dough is ready, we will carefully shape and bake our cookies, filling our kitchen with the warm, comforting aroma of baking chocolate. As our biscuits cool on the rack, take a moment to appreciate the history and tradition that we are honoring with this simple act of creation.
As you bite into a freshly baked 1812 Chocolate Cookie, savor the rich flavors that would have been familiar to Americans of the past. Let the love and care that went into each batch transport you to a simpler time, when Valentine’s Day was celebrated with heartfelt gestures and handmade treats.
So, this Valentine’s Day, why not embrace the spirit of the 1800s and bake a batch of these delicious chocolate cookies to share with your loved ones? Let us pay homage to the traditions of the past and create new memories that will last for generations to come.

You guys gave us a great laugh today! ❤ Happy Valentines Day!
Your little baby is going to have one very fun life with you two. Your videos warm my heart.
Hilarious Ron’s not dealing with it, like you with the ice cream, He wants to make them before Valentines Day is over😂❤🙏
I was laughing so hard that I woke my dogs up when the electric mixer was brought out.
Ron did exactly what I was thinking, at the exact time I thought it, and almost wet myself laughing. I had a question about the baking though. How do you know how hot the "oven" is, as to know how long to bake the items?
Ron with the mixer lol you two are adorable!!! Happy valentine's day ❤
I know it's a cooking channel but I hope they don't do an 1812 birth tutorial video now that Justine is pregnant 😂

Laughing my butt off when the mixer came out. Congrats on being pregnant 🎉❤
😂❤️🥰
When we first moved in together, my husband and I didn't have an electric mixer. Undaunted, I still made him a lemon meringue pie for his birthday, which is February 13th actually! It took me nearly an hour of whisking to make the meringue, which he then complained turned out slightly flat. 😂 We were quite young. Thankfully we've both learned to appreciate each other more than either of us did then. However, we've been married for sixteen years now and I've still not made any merengue topped desserts again. We also went out to eat tonight. Lol
Just Great guys!! Keep going!👍👍
You two are adorable. 😂
LMAO right before he brought out the hand mixer I said I hope they use an electric hand mixer off camera 😂
I miss when they didn't talk….😢
An electric mixer. In 1812? Too hilarious😂😂😂😂
Ben Franklin has electricity 😂

Loving the hand mixer😂😂😂
This is very beautiful moment, the husband is finally helping the wife in the kitchen. It shows that he is a bit lazy in the kitchen using a electric beater, shame shame!
😂 The mixer killed me! Happy Valentine's Day to you guys!
❤😂❤❤❤😂❤
Is your bedroom attached to the back of that?
Ron I would have done the same thing and Justine you’re hilarious 😂 taps with straw whisk “you gotta use this, we don’t have electricity yet” idk why that got me more than the grumbling about Ben Franklin but it did

My wife, Rose and I are watching you and your husband make cookies for valentines day. Rose asks how tall your husband is. I'm assuming 6'2 or 6'3".
I literally laughed out loud when he brought the mixer out!
