In a shocking case that has sent shockwaves through the legal system in France, 50 men are currently facing trial for the rape of Gisele Pelicot, orchestrated by her own husband, Dominique Pelicot. The disturbing details of the case have brought to light the pervasive nature of rape culture not only in society, but also in the courtroom.
According to reports, Dominique Pelicot has confessed to drugging his wife and enlisting dozens of men online to rape her while she was unconscious. Despite video evidence clearly implicating the defendants, a staggering 35 of them have denied the rape charges, with some claiming that they were misled by Dominique Pelicot into thinking they were participating in a consensual sex game, while others suggested that Gisele Pelicot was merely pretending to be asleep.
The defense arguments put forth by the accused men only serve to highlight the deeply ingrained attitudes and beliefs that contribute to a culture that minimizes and trivializes sexual violence against women. The idea that a victim could be blamed for their own assault or that consent can be ambiguous or unclear is not only harmful, but dangerous.
Cynthia Illouz, founder of “The Women’s Voices,” has spoken out about the implications of this case, emphasizing the need for a shift in attitudes and beliefs around rape and sexual assault. The trial of these 50 men serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for societal change, as well as the critical importance of supporting and believing survivors of sexual violence.
As the trial unfolds and the defendants face justice for their crimes, it is crucial that we continue to challenge and dismantle the pervasive rape culture that allows such atrocities to occur. Only then can we hope to create a society where all individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and above all, consent.

It’s disgusting how the court treats rape victims.
The facts should be analyzed. Look at the evidence. Look at their ridiculous answers.
“I thought she was dead.”
“I asked permission from Dominique”
So then it’s established they never had consent.
When is the court going to have a backbone & do your job and actually JUDGE. 👨🏻⚖️
Why isn't the husband criminally charged with trying to k1ll his wife ? he was flat out poisoning her on purpose. He was making her sick to the point where she kept going to doctors, yet he continued to keep increasing her dosage and give her more drugs even when he could see he was making her sick and it was affecting her health. He could easily have over dosed her. He is already suspected of murd3r in some cold cases from the 1990's in the Paris region. He was poisoning his wife. he was dispensing drugs with no medical license. why is he not brought up on criminal charges of trying to k1ll his wife ?

Men in their primitive form are predatory . It is in the nature of all men. But men, when evolving their attitudes and education they mostly would not think of forcing another human, man or woman. We as a culture haven’t given enough time and encouragement to refining human social behaviour. It is in the nature of men because they have to Persue women to mate with them. Consequently women are beautiful for the same reason. It is a big ritual being more ritualised in various societies and cultures. Yes men at their base are primitive and should, when identified keep away from them.
